I expect a closer game. Both teams have good keepers. Mauldin is a little short handed with their best center back out with a knee problem. Against Byrnes they only had one sub.

Wouldn't be surprised to see it decided by PK's.

Past couple of times these teams have met it has been decided by PKs. Both teams always come out and play their hearts out! Should be another good game!

Sweet,

You must be hopped up on D C.

K W,

S D graduated last year. Keeper advantage definitely goes to Mauldin, whichever keeper is in goal.

This is could be to close to call. Riverside plays a lot more direct using their speed outside and serving the ball across. Mauldin likes to work the ball up, keeping possession and looking for high percentage shots. If Mauldin’s outside backs can contain Rverside's outside mids and their keepers play to potential, Mauldin will win this game. If I had to make a prediction, I’m taking Mauldin 2-1.

Riverside is crap for playing direct, keepersdad2002 from the lowcountry has told me so. I disagree, but he sad they're crap because they don't play a "possession" style offense.

Club soccer= possession offense
HS soccer= Direct
HS soccer possession offense= 3-5 nice passes followed by a turnover.
HS soccer direct offence = goal scoring opportunities and an exciting match.
Mauldin will play possession soccer with the forwards backs to the goal.
Riverside will play an attacking offense that will lead to numerous scoring opportunities.

Sweet,
I don’t disagree with what you said. Mauldin playing with the forwards back to the goal, maybe the best way to break down Riverside’s speedy defense. As a wise club coach once said “only time will tell”.

Beautiful sunshiny day in Greenville! Riverside will be playing with a dry ball for all of those speedy offensive players!

Predict they take it to fourth or fifth gear today. No post-tournament blues.

Riverside 3 or 4, Mauldin 0.

R O H,
Are you implying Byrnes, Dorman, Eastside, Spartanburg and Parkview GA ,don't have team speed? I'm not saying Mauldin beat these teams, they just didn't lose by 3 or 4.

Hagler, Jacobs, Fagan. Boy, that's really going out on a limb, isn't it. I might throw in two for Fagan.

I think Mav Soccer is expecting a stellar performance from the Mavs dynamic duo in the net. That advantage goes to the Mavs

I am reducing my prediction to 3. I am getting vibes that Mavs Soccer might be a player, and you seem ready. Do you know Kelsey on the JV team (daughter's friend at CESA).

Ok, I cut a foot off the limb. 3-0 now; Mav's ready for the Warrior Express!

Kelsey’s a great girl and comes from a great family. The fact that she is on the JV team should tell you something about Mauldin’s depth.
Care to make another prediction?

Have to go with mav's prediction, although I wouldn't be surprised if the second goal doesn't come from PK's. I don't think Riverside will have the same advantage at midfield that they've enjoyed in previous games. Schaidle should have several good looks at goal, which could be just enough. And, if Smith is in goal for Mauldin I would hate to be the forward in the box on the receiving end of the Riverside crosses. This COULD be the game many have been waiting for that will light a competitive fire under the great depth of talent on the Mauldin roster. Mauldin has to be one of the only teams in the state deeper in premier/challenge players than Riverside.

One last note before the big game tonight, Mauldin does score on a free kick or PK on a defensive foul.

Riverside dominated the first half. Mauldin keeper, Curren Smith made several outstanding saves. Second half was a little more even with Riverside scoring first. Mauldin scored with about seven minutes left. Curren saved one PK and Riverside put one over. Mauldin scored all of theirs.

I said it in another thread and it bears repeating here. Coach Czar has done an outstanding job adapting his team after multiple injuries. Only one defender that started the season is still healthy. Outside mids are now in the back and mid fielders are playing up top. The defense did a great job containing all that Riverside speed. Mauldin won again with only one sub. I believe reinforcements are on the way.

Mav's managed to keep a clear sheet playing their indirect passing game in the first half aided by some great goal keeping. The team, presumably under the coaches half time direction, adjusted and became more direct in the second half with the forwards facing forward some of the time and put more pressure on Riverside. Then they looked much more threatening. 1-1 was a fair result, but penalty kicks count.

Congratulation to the Lady Mav's for a nice win last night. I agree with Mavs Soccer that RHS dominated the first half. RHS keeper never touched the ball in the first half of play. Mav's keeper Curren Smith made save after save during the match. Curren made at least 4 saves where she stopped a ball on the goal line. With RHS up 1-0 and 5-6 minutes left in the match Mav player Sarah Schadile (sic) beat two RHS defenders and netted a ball front post to even the match. After two scorless OT's, mauldin wins in PK's. The keeper was the difference in the match. Mauldin had one shot on goal during regulation and OT's, and that's all they needed. Again congratulations to the Lady Mav's.
