26:00 (B) Throw-in play, flick hit the near post, Liz Kinney got the rebound
92:00 (FM) Ashleigh Sheets cut off by defense, slides ball outside to Kaitlyn Marr, big cross over the box, Becca Tooley heads it into the underside of the crossbar, deflects down and across the goal line
95:00 (FM) Taylor (Beckham) Parker bends a corner kick around the near post and into the goal

Byrnes was very athletic, easily averaging 4 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier than FM. But they were surprisingly light on their feet, falling over at the slightest touch: ref called it 20 times. Great coaching! It worked!

Irmo 1

TL Hanna dominated first half and should have had a 2 or 3 goal lead at halftime instead of 1-0. Irmo must have had a fire lit under their butts at halftime, they won most of the 50/50 balls in the second half and got a semi-cheap goal off a bad play by a TL Hanna Defender. But the better team pulled it out with a goal in the last 30 seconds of the game.

Oh, and congrats to Fort Mill! That's a huge win and I admit to underestimating them. Good job Lady Jackets and good job to my other Lady Jackets!

Looks like we got North Augusta. Congrats to Wren's Hannah Gmerek on a great high school career, good luck at C of C.

McCoy gave the FM-Byrnes recap. I'll add that Byrnes was very disciplined and they executed their game plan very well. Most of the time they sat back in a 5-4-1 and did agreat job absorbing pressure, offering Fort Mill only half chances. Byrnes countered when possible and their two center midfielders, Liz Kinney and #4 (sorry didn't catch her name), battled their rear ends off. The Lady Rebs knew they could get something out of a restart or a counter....and they did.....about 45 seconds after FM's goal.

It was a great game to watch. Two really good coaches with completely different strategies. Exciting match.
