I know that we have already had a Hanna/Irmo recap but I need to mention a few things. The first is that Mike Mauldin and the Irmo version of yellow jackets are first class and his girls really took it to us, especially in the second half. We got lucky to get through this match but four things need to be mentioned.
1. We had to reorganize in the back and put our sophomore Mariana Anderson in charge of that group and she responded magnificently. Molly Harpe will be an all state candidate next year, yet she did our dirty work at stopper because we needed it.
2. Kendall Maxwell made several great saves, but there was one off of a long shot that had us holding our breath for what seemed like forever.
3. Our freshmen are unbelievable! Summer Miller, Kelsey Hand, Curry Ann Wilson, Morgan Cutts, Ashley Davis, and Kathryn Witcher all either started or contributed significant minutes.
4. Caitlin Robinson is the best finisher in the state...period. The goal she scored at the end was incredible.
I am going to bed. Whew! playoffs are fun!
