Wando graduates six seniors.

Were they all starters ?
I also noticed #20 a freshman starting and playing most of the game. I had her on my daughter's team when she was 7-12 years old. It was great watching her play.

At least 3, maybe 4 of the six are regular starters. Starting line up varies.
Thanks, the freshman is a pleasure to watch.

This team reminds me of the potent Wando team of '04 that marched through the playoffs. Both teams have great defense. '04 was very dominant on offense though

Congratulations to Socastee on a very good season and a great effort against a Hilton Head High team that looked like they might be looking ahead last night.

Socastee scored about 10 minutes in to take a 1-0 lead. It was first time Hilton Head has trailed since March 13 according to Island Packet.

Hilton Head scored two goals by Abby Fennessey to retake the lead and led 3-2 going into halftime. The Seahawks regrouped at halftime and came out firing like a shotgun in the second half. Problem was, their aim was just like a shotgun. They hit everything but their target. Socastee tried opening up their offense, but three goals in the second half (including one more by Fennessey) put the game away.

Final shot totals:
Hilton Head 31
Socastee 4

Fennessey's hat trick gives her 18 for the season.

I can't believe that no one out there, on either side, is offering up a recap of the Dorman - South Aiken match!?!?

Has a gag order been issued (conspiracy theorist)?

Thank God for goupstate.com or we here in York County would all be in the dark!

Wow! Offensive explosion by Dorman's Dynamic Duo!

All that defensive, hang in their close, grind out the win strategy went out the window pretty early. I wish I had a video of that game...amazing.

Hurst,

Great article. Thanks for providing it. It's great to see girls' high school sports coverage. Dorman is fortunate in that regard.
Congratulations to Dorman. Sounds like they have a great team. I had never heard of the two sophomores that were spoken about. Does anyone know what club, if any, they play for? Also, congrats to S. Aiken on an impressive season. I know South Aiken will be a 3A powerhouse with all their young talent and a good coach, too.

One quote by Zongrone that really caught my attention was about the team chemistry she said Dorman has. I have heard people associated with club soccer claim that team chemistry tends to be over-rated. I believe that in high school soccer, team chemistry is under-rated.

Good luck to all the teams left in the play-offs. Play hard, play cleanly, and leave it all with no regrets.

Joe Lorenz is under-appreciated. Outstanding and meticulous.

Both of the Dorman sophomores (Walker and Miller) play club soccer for Carolina FC in Spartanburg
