Palmetto 4 - Gilbert 0
Thursday, May 8, 6:00 PM at Palmetto

Goals: Palmetto - #8 D. Mahaffey (2), #4 J. Davenport, #14 M. Roberts
Assists: #9 T. Bowman (3)

That's Using Your Heads:
Palmetto came out playing much more aggressively for this second round match-up. They controlled the ball and the temperament of the match. With beautiful corners and crosses by Wing Trey Bowman, three different Mustangs headed in goals. With the one additional goal off the foot, Palmetto took a decisive 4-0 lead at half.
The second half saw the Mustangs play ball possession and control. This allowed them also to sub frequently and rest many players. On a hot and muggy night, this was needed.
Gilbert played very good ball - but were just overmatched. #9 and #12 showed some really good soccer skills, and #4 was very good defensively as he marked our leading playmaker the second half and held him in check.
It was nice to see Palmetto play with their heads - both literally and figuratively, as they played really smart soccer tonight. With our leading scorer out, it was nice to see great passing and many others step up their game.
