Congratulations to all those that made it.
61% of the 4A names were from schools with 2 or more players: Dorman, Wando, Summerville, Dutch Fork, and TL Hanna. 61% also came from the upper state. What were the surprises to me? Not many from a bottom-up perspective -- I think the coaches did as good a job as any year I've seen -- but since this message board was created for second-guessing!
- I think you could argue that Wando deserved three players and that either Jade Davis or Olivia Urig could have been on the list. Wando's the deepest team in the state.
- Dorman having 3 wasn't a surprise and was deserved; second deepest team in the state.
- I think 2 from Summerville (not the names, but just the quantity) was a surprise given the team's record against ranked opponents.
- Kendall Maxwell not making it was a surprise to me; not from a numbers perspective in terms of TL Hanna or a criticism of the wonderful keepers who made it but from a sheer skills perspective.
- I thought given the disparity between the upper state and lower state that 61% might have been a low representation from the upper state.
In 3-A, 66% of the names came from schools with 2 or more players; only surprise was that Riverside did not have had 3 names; deepest 3-A school in the state.
