the way cesa had the tryouts this year has been great. you are already assigned numbered pennies in green and orange before you get there.you get the same number everyday.the numbers are on front and back and the coaches are not having trouble like they had with the old paper numbers.easier to see who is who.check in was well organized.
the u-17s had well over 50 tryout.the u-13s had about 40 or so on the first day.

CUFC has 101 boys for U-17 tryouts, even with paper numbers. Clearly a superior club. I keed, I keed - but the number is true. My understanding is that there are 80-90 in every age-group through the 17's. There is even talk of fielding more than three teams in some ages. It's great to be able to give lots of kids the chance to play select soccer.

I hope all clubs are seeing similar enthusiasm in their communities.

i should of stated that i was talking about the girls side.that is a large number though.it is good to see that a lot of kids are playing soccer these days.
since cesa has most of the region spots you have better players trying out so the numbers would be lower.
the new carolina select/charlotte united joint venture had a higher number of kids trying out than what i expected.

happy daddy how are they splitting up all those kids? are the older kids at BB&T and younger at polo?

They are using both of those locations (alternating nights), as well as the two fields behind the church on Sparkleberry Rd.

The only session I have watched is the U-17 boys. Given the size of the group, I was very impressed with the depth of talent. It's just great to see so many kids sticking with the game at that age. Used to be that it could be really tough to field multiple teams at that age and it looks like we may have four.

i can remember tryouts and looking over at the older kids and there would be 25 at the most and a lot of them were trying out at several clubs.
