Here

I counted 38 select teams in the U-13 to U-18 age groups. I believe that's an increase of nine teams from last year. Good work CUFC.

Not bad for a "social soccer club" led by a gym teacher and a t-shirt salesman.

First of all...congratulations to CUFC on the accomplishment.

Secondly, who referred to CUFC as a "social soccer club?"

Great job Columbia United on bringing so many new players into the club/game.

Yes, very well done Columbia United.

This may actually mean there is another way to become successful in SC and not be named CESA.

Keep up the good work.

Hmmm how do you know there are new players when only numbers are posted on the website ??

The numbers speak for themselves. In prior years there has been only one or two teams per age grou. Unless these past players have cloned themselves, then there are "New" players coming into the club. Simple math.

Sorry for the "misquote" but upon further research the term was that CUFC was "country club" soccer by that Upstate MENSA society member LocDog in the thread about CESA Summerville (how CUFC got in that discussion is another question). I had remembered the term "social soccer" thrown around so much by some members of this board (in the past mostly) in regards to Columbia soccer--maybe that is why it stuck in my head.

In any event, well done by CUFC and Coach Phil Savitz and
Tripp Miller for a well conducted tryout week. Let's hope these numbers translate to further success for the club.

Have other clubs announced their rosters? Wonder if any kids on these CUFC teams tried out with other clubs? Last year several kids who had previously played with CUFC also tried out with CESA - anybody hear of that happening this year?
