KANSAS CITY, Kan. - College of Charleston men's soccer player, Kareem Yearwood, was named to the 2008 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List, released Tuesday morning. This is the first ever nomination for the College of Charleston.

A junior from Sou Sou Lands, Tobago, Yearwood led the Southern Conference in goals (13) and points (29) in 2007. Yearwood was named a first-team All-South Region member by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and also was All-Southern Conference First Team last season.

The Hermann Trophy Watch List consists of 48 players, including the 2007 winner, Connecticut's O'Brian White. White is looking to become the first player to repeat as Hermann Trophy winner since 1995 and 1996. Yearwood and Furman's Patrick Murray represent the Southern Conference on the watch list.

Considered the highest individual honor in college soccer, the recipients of the Hermann Trophy are selected by Division I head coaches who are current members of the NSCAA. The 48 players on the watch list will be narrowed down to 15 semifinalists in November, and the three finalists will be selected in early December. The winner of the Hermann Trophy will be announced on January 9, 2009, in St. Louis, Mo.
