Furman’ Vorbe Named SoCon Player-Of-The-Week

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman freshman Fabien Vorbe has been named Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player-of-the-Week after netting two goals in the Paladins’ double overtime loss at UNC Wilmington in Sunday’s season opener.

The Port-au-Prince, Haiti, native rallied Furman from a 1-0 deficit with goals in the 80th and 89th minutes to give the Paladins a 2-1 lead. Vorbe leveled the game at 1-1 with a header before scoring the potential game-winner on an assists from fellow freshman Warren Creavalle with 1:01
remaining.

UNC Wilmington, however, spoiled the freshman’s debut forcing overtime in the final second of regulation and snatching victory in the second overtime period.

Furman (0-1-0) opens its home schedule this weekend hosting the Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational. The Paladins entertain Bowling Green on Friday and Washington on Sunday.
