Having had two daughters participate in ODP every year that they possibly could, they would both say it was well worth the expense. Their parents would, too.
But, that's what it boils down to - is it worth it for YOUR kid? I'd counsel any kid or parent that, if you want to play soccer in college, ODP is a necessity. Being evaluated and seen by multiple college coaches, playing with the best players in your region, and the experience of moving beyond one's comfort zone are all integral pieces where ODP can help determine if collegiate soccer is in a kid's future.
I once had a college coach tell me, if two kids are equal and one kid has ODP on their resume while the other doesn't, the coach will take the ODP player first. I can understand that rationale.
It's times like these where Chico is REALLY missed - it'd be fascinating to see statistics as to how many female D1 players currently playing participated in ODP throughout the nation.
ODP is indeed an expensive proposition but, for my kids, worth every penny spent.
