For the girls:

Yes, if the player aspires to play at the higher levels of soccer. The postives defintely out weigh any of the negatives

Bsoccerb's

ODP is worth it for the exposure your daughter will receive. If she's any good the colleges will come knockn, if not, it's a humbling experience. ODP is like a football combine for talented soccer players looking to be evaluated by college coaches. As far as ODP in SC for player development ha ha. Good luck.

college coaches involved with ODP is where the conflict begins with which players get chosen to move on to the next level. it's not always the better player chosen but the one that might be a recruit for his/her college team.

so all of you that complain about your kid not getting chosen it may well be that the odp coach isn't interested in your kid playing for thier college team.

I would have to dissagree. By your theory (on the girls side)there was only one player in the state that college coaches involved with odp were going to recruit. I think there are more players in the state that college coaches would like to have on their team.

MA – probably did a poor job making my point and not really worth the effort to get my point across correctly but I do think ODP and college coaches running the show can conflict with each other respected purposes. Many more players are recruited and play college soccer that do not participate in ODP and a lot of talented players choose not to play college soccer.

Letmeput:
Name any girl currently playing D-1 soccer from SC that didn't do ODP. Also name a player receiving a full ride that didn't play SC ODP.

Danielle Schmitt--Junior, Clemson University Women's Soccer. From Fort Mill, SC. No ODP among a comprehensive list of credentials.

One enough?

i know a few girls that didnt play odp and are on college teams.small schools and not much money but they are playing none the less.a couple of them didnt even play club the last few years.
what i have found out is that if you want to play at that higher level and get more money for school odp is a big factor.there is a lot of money for girls to play soccer in college and a lot of girls who do not do odp will get recruited.more schools will recruit a player with odp on the resume than not.
like you said "some will not play in college" and some may not care about playing at a higher level so odp does not matter.
