Sorry Dale,

My sarcasm doesn't do well on the internet. Clearly there is a difference between the two (although I do find it funny that soccer is considered a contact sport and basketball is not), but every sport should get the same "spring practice window".

From previous posts I assume this is 4A only:

1. Wando - to be the (wo)man you have to beat the (wo)man!
2. Mauldin - I agree they have the most talent
3. Dutch Fork - Also loaded with talent
4. Dorman - How do you say "poor-mouthing" in German?
5. Clover - Okay, I will take a sip of big daddy's koolaid
and I can't wait to see them play.
6. Irmo - They were very tough last year and have most of
their team back.
7. North Augusta - Like Clover, they had a great record
but I don't have any direct knowledge
about them.
8. Tied - Byrnes, Lexington, Hanna, Spartanburg, Spring
Valley, West Florence, and Summerville. All
teams with significant personnel loses or
question marks going into this season but have
potential to be very good.
15. Westside - The hardest working coach in 4A deserves a
vote!

1. Wando - got to knock out the champ
2. Mauldin - most talented team in the state
3. Dorman - Josef will find someone to replace the Big Z in the back
4. Clover - solid, deep and now battle-tested
5. Dutch Fork - R3PL players all over the field
6. Byrnes - good to see so much talent coming out of that Spartanburg-based club
7. Irmo - roster deep with high-level club players
8. Spring Valley - need to replace the GK/FWD, but a nice talent pool available
9. Aiken - go get 'em Junior!, solid varsity returning & great JV moving up
10. Fort Mill - Goodbye to Sheets & five other senior starters, so long Coach Finnerty, brutal schedule (What, me worry?)

I assume Hurst and a few others on other threads are a little misinformed about Aiken High girls. No Holtzing here like Dale Jr (who I assume you meant to reference as "junior," Hurst) but we only won 2 jv games last year. We also lost 5 senior starters to graduation, 2 more starters out for the season due to year long injuries, 3 underclass outside midfielders decided not to play, & 1 sr defender decided not to play. My leading scorer from last season tore her ACL too. A team that only won 7 games last season is now returning 8 players total. Although I am optimistic about our prospects (I always am when I have great coachable kids), top 10 is not deserved at this moment. Thanks for thinking of us, but I'd rather not have unjustified expectations on us. You never know; however, we have some serious work to do to earn a spot in any rankings.

Oddly enough, I think the poster that ranked Aiken at #9 and then said go get 'em, Junior, really meant South Aiken. SA is now 3A.

The sole fact that Ron chose to respond to this typo means he is prepared. Like a snake in the grass waiting to strike, Ron will wield his power of the spoken word on all teams unwary of his wit, candor and near omnipotent verbosity. Lord knows I did not schedule Aiken High. I have taken that beating once, and unless we meet in the 4A state championship, do not plan to again.

Craig, thanks for the #15 nod. If I win A LOT of a games I am not favored in, it could happen...

I e-mailed Junior to tell him I got the wrong "Aiken" ranked. I meant South Aiken.

Ron, I hope you appreciate the good publicity though.

Good luck this season.

(I think I also omitted TL Hanna and CJ was kind enough to return the favor.)

I'll use my "mulligan" and take another crack at this. It's been three weeks since my last effort and, since then, I've been able to acquire a little more information.

Here goes 4A:

1. Mauldin
2. Wando
3. Dorman
4. Dutch Fork
5. Clover
6. TL Hanna
7. Spartanburg
8. Spring Valley
9. Summerville
10. Irmo

Hurst,

Taking Wando down before the first game? Please share the new information you have acquired. Inquiring minds would like to know the details !!!!!
