Dale,
Sorry for misspeaking (no intention of lying), I just forgot to finish the statement of "30 days to have 10 practices". But... I remember those "10 non-contact days". We put in a massive part of the offense in those ten days. Instead of trying to learn the offence in preseason, we already knew most of it by the time practice officially opened in the fall.
Imagine if you will a "fall window" for spring sports. You could put in all of your set pieces, as well as "shadow play" to learn your offensive and defensive system of play. You could also do all sorts of footwork, passing, receiving, etc. What a huge difference that would make, wouldn't it???

The only problem you would have Cid is getting the football team to give you room.

That is the big reason soccer is in the spring. I'm sure coaches would find somewhere to go!!!!

Not the only issue.....you think Club coaches would declare a moratorium in the middle of club season so that high school teams can hook up for 2 weeks of practices?

Cid, now we're getting there. We do have competition days in the summer that very few seem to take advantage of. Football does thiers in the spring.

Now, football does have 10 days for passing league, but that is helmets only and O/D lineman are not factored in the equation.

We are allowed 10 days of practice as a team during the summer(before dead period) , you can play other schools, go to camp, or just practice.

Like I said Dale, I misspoke. Yes, soccer does get ten days during the summer, but I believe (as not to be a liar) that football gets those days also.
And no, I do not believe that SC considers basketball a contact sport, thus allowing 7 and 8 grade students to play varsity if they are good enough (not that many do). I believe football, soccer and wrestling are the only "contact" sports according to SCHSL.

Soccer is allowed full dress during the summer whereas football is severely limited. I guess limiting them in the spring and the summer is supposed to make up for everyone else getting their 10 days uninhibited. We'll never understand it. With club, I guess our strong need to put together a summer league has diminished.

Is there a girls high school team in the state that takes advantage of these 10 days in the summer? I'm guessing "no".
Kids play sports because they find it fun. Eliminate the fun and soon you eliminate the kid.
