Like I said Dale, I misspoke.
Yes, soccer does get ten days during the summer, but I believe (as not to be a liar) that football gets those days also.

And no, I do not believe that SC considers basketball a contact sport, thus allowing 7 and 8 grade students to play varsity if they are good enough (not that many do). I believe football, soccer and wrestling are the only "contact" sports according to SCHSL.

Soccer is allowed full dress during the summer whereas football is severely limited. I guess limiting them in the spring and the summer is supposed to make up for everyone else getting their 10 days uninhibited. We'll never understand it. With club, I guess our strong need to put together a summer league has diminished.

Is there a girls high school team in the state that takes advantage of these 10 days in the summer? I'm guessing "no".


Kids play sports because they find it fun. Eliminate the fun and soon you eliminate the kid.
