I heard a few people have received emails that told them that they had made the team. Anyone else? Curious why everyone hadn't one way or another. Comments?

Guess that is question for Ms. Bynum.
Heard that 92 boys and 94 girls have heard. Nothing about 93 or 94 boys.
94 girls had 13 make team and 17 alternates that will fight for the remaining slots.

It appears there are some email demons working as there have been emails sent to incomplete lists (or so it would appear) and even to email addresses that look correct but did not receive them (like mine - still trying to figure that one out).
I know the 95 G and 96 G list is out

That is a lot of alternates fighting for a few spots. I would have thought the list would be shorter after multiple tryouts and practice. Does anyone have the list for the '93 girls? Is it as long?

If the list above is correct, it is loaded with CESA players. The "team" of 13 has 9 CESA, 2 Bridge, 1 CUFC and 1 I'm not sure of.

The CESA 93 Premier Girls are a very good team that has proven to be head and shoulders above any of the other South Carolina teams in that age group. Why shouldn't the girls from this team be well-represented on the 94 Girls ODP team?

I wasn't stating anything negative about the numbers, just stating a fact. I believe 4 of the 13 are from the CESA 93 team and 5 of the 13 are from the CESA 94 team.

If the list posted for the 94 Girls ODP team is correct (we still haven't gotten notification), 2 of the players that made the team are from the 93 Bridge FA Team. These are the only two that tried out from the 93 Bridge FA team.

There is one Bridge player who played 1.5 years with SAA. She is also the one that was brought in just before state cup freeze date last spring. Played with Bridge this fall and word on the street is that she is now playing with SAA in the spring.

Since we are moving into the high school season, it would be interesting to see what high school the 13 girls that made the 94 team play on. Please designate if they are 8th graders.

At the rate the SC ODP process is going they will not attract any new girls to the program. Word gets out quickly about the process. The 94 girls obviously are CESA dominate.I was at the sub-regional games and in my opinion there were girls who should have made the team ,who didn't and girls who made alternates that shouldn't have and girls that didn't make either that should have .I observed the process and the coach appeared to have very little interest in the games or process. He was always busy talking to someone or not around to have made a true evaluation of these girls. Why do you think SC is so far behind the times in the soccer world?

I was also there. The main core of the group is about right on.There were several coaches evaluating. CESA happens to be a little dominate in the 93 and 94 girls category. Several of those girls travel to Greenville to play there. There are a lot of opinions. I hope you attended all the games and try outs.

Good for them, bad for the parents who have to travel all over the state to take their girls to clubs they think are superior. Soon there will be no more competition in SC .We won't even have to have a State Cup because everyone will be playing for CESA.

In case you do not know this, there are players that travel in every state to clubs that they choose to play forincluding Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, and the list goes on.There still is no one super club in those states. For whatever reason, get over yourself, buddy! Please try to make it a good experience for your daughter and encourage her to keep up the good work. It will pay off.

so you are saying that players made it because of what club they play for? so in return i guess players did not make it because of what club they play at?

Obviously by my name I don't have a "girl in this fight. What I would like to know is how this list of girls has been made available publicly? I don't see anything on the SCYSA website.

mom,
Very simple. Every player (eight) who did not make the cut received an e-mail on Saturday. All of the players who made the team, plus the alternates, were also due to receive an e-mail this past weekend. The e-mail was sent. There was a transmission problem (not SCYSA's fault) and not all players/parents received the e-mail with the list of players. Those that did receive the e-mail started calling their friends, many of which didn't get the e-mail.
People got on this forum and said "what's going on?", "why haven't I heard anything?", "who knows who made the team?".
Since the information was supposed to have been sent out by now, someone who gained access to it, published it here to satisfy those who had not yet received it.

Hurst,
Thanks for the explanantion. It would be difficult to find out you made/didn't make the team on a message board. Have any of the boy's teams been notified(besides 96's)?

mom,
I wouldn't want to be the one to break the news to a 14-year old girl that she didn't make the team, and I certainly wouldn't do it on a message board. I'm fairly confident that all the players who didn't either make the team, or, make alternate, were already notified directly by SCYSA.
As for the other age groups........I don't know. I'm pretty sure the names of the 94 Girls will be up on the SCYSA website within the next couple of days.

I know for a fact that at least 6 of the 94 girls were not notified either way ( some made the team, some didn't) No notification from Mary Bynum or SCYSA. Again this shows how poorly this SC ODP is run.

I believe that everyone was told that the notification would be by way of an announcement on the SCYSA website. That's been done. It seems that some coaches may have sent e-mails of their own and, based on your post, some players may have been overlooked in that process. That's unfortunate, but I don't think it's fair to blame Mary Bynum or SCYSA. The rosters have been posted as they said they would be.

i think there were glitches with a couple of age groups e-mail list.not just the 94s. im still trying to figure out if you are upset because of so many cesa girls made it,some girls got left off,or that sc odp is messed up.which one is it. seems you have more of a problem with cesa.

Unless as a parent you are, unbiased and more qualified to evaluate the talent pool than those that are responsible to do it. It has to be someone elses fault that every child that trys out for ODP doesn't make it.

Why was Marty's name omitted from the 95 Girls list as coach? Would it be a good assumption that since he took a job in High Point he will no longer be the coach? Any inside info?

Good assumption. State ODP coaches are from colleges located in the given state. Sorry to see Marty leave SC ODP, but congratulations and best wishes to him on new position at High Point.

Is SC ODP pricing itself out of the market? You could almost attend 2 camps for this year's price.

when you add the sub regional cost ($250 i think) odp cost run over $1k. you might get 3 camps in for the total you pay for odp.

An alternate position would train with the team and if the team played in any tournaments..could be selected to play..The best answer you will get is from the coach..Ask him or her what role you will play within the system

looks like only the 92's have selected a full roster.some of the alternates from the other ages should be added to the team before bama.

The girls ODP 92 are having practices twice a month varying locations from Columbia fields to university/college fields such as SC State and Wofford. Not as many girls came out for ODP this year in the 92 age group for I'm guessing various issues one of which is cost/value. It appears the ones who aren't doing it will be missing a great opportunity. With two 2-3 hour practices a month, the money for just the training will be well invested. For those jr. girls that have already committed to schools, they get top notch college soccer training. This is a whole different level than what they'll likely receive at their respective high school even with the best of high school coaches. For those that are still Sophomores, they get numerous college coaches exposure and a taste of "college" soccer training. Girls coming off of club season thinking they are in decent shape are quickly seeing there is much more work to be done. "In shape" even at the premier club level does not appear to be the same as an average college player judging from the 92 practices to date. Also, as I believe was mentioned before almost all of the athletic questionaires for D1 colleges ask about ODP experience as well as a lot of the girl's college coaches bios have involvement with the ODP program in it. So here is a vote for its worth the money and will bring a lot more advantages to the player than a couple college camps.
