From another thread ... 'There is no leadership from senior class'

One of the most over-used (and over-rated) sentences out there!

What does a 'senior' bring that a junior (or for that matter a So. or Fr.) doesn't?

Is this just an arm chair critic that needs statistics to debate a game that has nothing to do with stats?!?! (And therefore confirming their lack of knowledge?)

Let the debate begin.

Personally, I think "senior leadership" is more of a figurehead and honour given to longevity of service, so to speak, than actual leadership.

Yeah, they get to do the coin toss and be recognized and sometimes wear a nifty little cuff, but the true leadership I've always found is in leading by action and that can be done whether you're a 7th grader on a SCISA varsity team or a senior four year letterer on a 4A SCHSL team.

Those people rarely get the recognition of being 'captain,' but they were always the ones with the most impact when they gave 150% on the field no matter what and when they encouraged their teammates.

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; [it] is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Well said..Kitten
Being a senior does not make you a leader..Matter of fact..we do not make leaders we just identify who they are through their actions..

Fair enough. I should have worded it differently. . .
There will be very little contribution to the success of the team from the senior class.

Arm chair critic??? lack of knowledge? Don't feel the need to compare our levels of knowledge of the game.

Even one person can have a big impact on a team. You don't need a starting roster of seniors for the 'seniors' to have an impact.

As I just said to someone yesterday...

Maturity isn't a number on a birth certificate; it's got to be a state of mind that's reflected in your actions.

Outside: My apologies, I should have started this topic without the first three words ... 'from another thread'. This was not meant to be an 'attack' on you specifically. I liked your response.

Everyone: Good stuff so far. Carry on.
