Any information on this coming weekends tourney? Who will be the favorites? Should be some great early season competition. Looks like teams include: Aiken, Airport, A.C. Flora, Ben Lippen, Blythewood, Ridge View, Richland Northeast, South Aiken, South Florence, Stratford, Thomas Sumter and White Knoll.

I'd say South Aiken and Aiken will be clear favorites and i think White Knoll, Blythewood, Stratford and Airport High Schools could be the "dark horses" in the sandhills soccer classic.( Stratford being the 2008 sandhills classic champions.)

sounds about right,

i think airport may suprise some people but in the end i think it will be one of the aiken teams that takes home the trophy.

AC Flora, Blythewood, White Knoll, South Florence, South Aiken, Thomas Sumter. All of these games will be played at BHS.

Semifinals 9:00 Sunday 3/1
The winner of Group A will host the second place team from Group B. The winner of Group B will host the second place teasm from Group A. In the event of a tie in the semifinal match, two 5 minute overtime periods will be played, then 5 pks, then sudden death pks. Finals 12:30 pm Sunday at BHS

Maybe a new tradition in the sandhills tournament? The host teams starting it off in both brackets. Looking forward to seeing some games tonight should be fun to watch.

da rne vs stratford was good, rne dominated the first half, but it all went down hill in the second half

I heard that the RNE/ Stratford match was one of the best games of the night.... I was told by a friend their that RNE dominated first half and had something like a three goal lead, but then when they got into the second apparently someone got a instant red? that true? and then I was told Stratford was given two pk's? that True? Thats just the word on the block hahah I hope to actually get out there and watch some of the games tmrw but even though i was not at the tournament m sure all the games were good and interexting cant wait to watch!

questionable officials for multiple games? thats what i have heard true or fib?

honestly im da keeper of rne, the pk calls were not suppose to be pks nor a red, but its an offical call even though it migh be wrong

I had the refs of the RNE game in the next game and I didn't think they were all that bad. That first pk in the second half of the RNE game was a flop, unless that ref was letting the advantage go on the initial push and than calling after there wasn't one. If he called it when the guy fell, a few steps after the push that he recovered from, than I think he just tripped and a pk wasn't necessary. Stratford had a pretty crazy second half performance though, impressive comeback.

Heard the tournament was cancelled. Does anyone know if they will play tomorrow or at a later rain date?

Aiken the stronger side in first 20 minutes. Airport much better last 20 of first half. No score at half. Second half a somewhat back and forth game. Aiken scores as Airport defender misses clear and Aiken scores on break away. Second goal ball kicked around in crowded 18 box and after 2 or 3 shots ball finally finds back of net. Airport had several injuries with one player taking a elbow to the head as Aiken keeper goes to get a contested high ball and comes down on him. Hope the young man is okay. Good effort by both sides.

The Sandhills Soccer Classic has been cancelled for the remainder of the weekend.

No games will be made up in the Sandhills tournament due to SCHSL stating that if the games are played there has to be a playoff system or a championship game, something like that thanks to all the teams that participated and sorry for the inconvenience please dont hesitate to join us again next year.

I guess those of us that bought tournament passes just donated to the schools.
