who picks this team ?? they are missing some of the states top talent in the 91's age group like zach acree , Taylor Varney

Those chosen for the USYS region III team must first have participated in the STATE level of ODP. They were then chosen from the states they represented at region camp over the summer. Zach nor Taylor participated with the ODP team for SC.

First day results:
Region III was the only US '91 team to win today. Great Competition!!!

Region 1 vs. Costa Rica---tied
Region 2 vs. Alajuela-----Alajela won 6-0
Region 3 vs. Heredia------Region III won 1-0
Region 4 vs. Brujas-------tied

The first match was against Heredia, a team from just outside San Jose. After adjusting to the accelerated speed of play, the boys settled down, scored a goal from Dennis Moore and came away with a hard fought 1-0 win! Bradley Bugg earned the MVP performance aided by two massive saves in the last five minutes of the match to seal the victory. Region III was the only American team to come through the first round of matches with a victory. Post-match, the teams gathered for a group photo and MVP award presentations.

I'd say South Carolina was well represented on the Region III squad.

Overall, Region III is tied for 2nd in the tournament at this point(8 teams playing)... 2 more games this week.
