Coaches, Parents, Players,

At the Winter Clinic Business Meeting it was pointed out to all coaches how important it is for us to support the soccer all star games here in SC, The North/South Soccer Classic and The CUFC Clash of the Carolinas. To date the following schools are the only ones that have donated money to The Clash.

Brookland-Cayce HS (Boys & Girls)
Irmo HS (Girls)
Mid-Carolina HS
Summerville HS (Girls)
Wando HS
E.L. Wright MS
Wando
West Florence boys
Hilton Head boys

This does not cut it. If we do not pony up for our own games how can we expect others to?

Parents and fans contact your coach and ask why he or she has not donated to the cause. It could be your child who does not get to play in an all star game because it was not funded. I hate to do this in a public forum. But, something has to be done to stir the pot. While you are at it, ask your coach if he or she is a member of SCACA and of the SCSCA. If they are not they do not get to nominate your child for any all star games.

I noticed a lot of teams not on this list always complain when one of their players don't make an allstar team. What a shame!

While I do agree that all that can be done to support these All Star Matches - let's not forget that many districts in this state are cutting budgets and being forced to make difficult decisions. Quite frankly I'm shocked we aren't seeing more travel restrictions. Once again, in this state we have the "have" and "have not" districts. Can you really expect a donation from a school in the infamous "corridor of shame"? Times are tight for everyone, but especially rural districts so let's not be so quick to start pointing fingers. Not sure what amount of donations are being asked for, but just wanted to point out that what is nominal for a school in Richland/ Lexington 5 may really add up to be significant for a school in the Dillion, Williamsburg, or Clarendon County areas. As far as Samuel Jackson's comment, I agree to the point that if you possibly can afford to and don't contribute you don't have the right to complain - but if a really good player happens to come out of the "corridor of shame" he/she should not be left off consideration simply because their school could not afford this
