Irmo 3-0 with about 3 to play last I saw. 0-0 at half.

SV came out and played well the 1st half but you could tell the from the very start of the 2nd half that Irmo was cranking it up a few notches and SV couldnt match it.

As has been said many times on this board, great teams find a way to win.

Tonight was a night where SV was determined to shape the game and did so for much of the first half as they controlled the midfield and consistently connected with their lone striker, Antoine Parris, who was denied the goal by a strong defensive line and keeper Rob Sullivan. It took most of the half for IRMO to sort things out, but when they did they took their game to another level.

The final 30 minutes of the game was vintage IRMO soccer. Great combination play supported by a relentless desire to find the net.

The first goal came from a blistering strike by Zach Acree from the right corner of the box, followed not long afterwards by a 13 yard or so volley from midfielder, Kyle Simpson. The third goal seemed to me to be an own goal, but may have been a goal by forward Taylor Varney as it was knocked around in the box before finding the net.

Congrats on defeating a worthy competitor tonight. I believe SV can lay claim to being the first team to humble a very talented IRMO squad. SV really played with the determination a team needs to earn a win and they made IRMO dig deeper to get the "W"!
