Wren, after being relatively unnoticed last year is now being talked about possibly challenging NW for the Upper State title. Have they just recently started winning or have they always won just gone unnoticed?

They defiantly fly under the radar. Suprisingly the held very well against NW last Thursday.

last year they made to the playoffs, won their first round game, and lost to a pretty good lexington team in the second round. in my opinion, this isnt too much of a surprise

Father of a co-captain here...team is composed of 14 seniors that have played together most of them from age 8. The last 2 years they only needed a season ending win over Greenwood to host region playoffs. They lost last year to Dorman rather convincingly and the year before at Ft. Mill, both in the 2nd round. The team has captured a good student following, by high school soccer standards, and are able to play up to talent of opponent but unfortunately they play down as well. Defense is the backbone of this team along with the intensity. It has been a fun year and I am sure the players want to go as far as does any team left. By the way, the compliments about the Northwestern game have been very consistent...Wren played very tough and held their own...and lost partially to the fact they do not close as consistant as they would like to. I am an old man so forgive some of the slight mistakes, they are not meant to exaggerate just help explain that the past 2 seasons Greenwood and Hanna and at times Easley have been stronger opponents.

No shame or excuses needed. Greenwood had a very solid team last year. Game against NW this year shows their capability and heart. Good Luck tonight!
