I agree, I think they try to use it as some sort of scare tactic. When I played them it had the opposite affect on me. I thought they looked like a bunch of softies.

Do all Irmo teams dye their hair some color during playoffs? I ask this becuase I know that the cross country team all dyed their hair black during State Meet. Is this a school wide thing?

As P&T said, it's a team unity thing. Irmo has been bleaching their hair for years, what is the big deal now? There are some teams I've seen (in the past) that have gotten Mohawks... what is the difference? Let's get away from their hair and talk about their play... can’t have any complaints there!

Has anyone ever been smart enough to know that this could also be an extension of the uniform. It really stands out for the long pass or for the header in the box from a corner or a throw in!!!! Boys and girls get smart!! SOCCER is a game that you need to always be thinking stop the fuss and enjoy the game.

I am 57. Grew up in a different world in a different time. Kids were a little different. Coach now is a world with those kids.
This chat is kinda funny, but do any of you really think food coloring in someone's hair is going to make any difference?
I would suggest, from an old man's thoughts, that concentrating on the play on the field, and possibly even the least number of posts about "me", might be the biggest determinate in the championship.
I don't think Enzo is going to pass out if someone shakes their yellow head in front of him while he is passing them.

After a few years pass you will realize that winning the state championship was not that big of a deal. The only people who will argue will be the people who's biggest accomplishment in life was just that. For everyone else the highlight will be your hair literally and you will be made fun of it by your friends and then it will hit you, I was a softy.

This year most of the FMHS boys team shaved thier heads to support a team mates brother who is sick and undergoing treatment. They will always look back on this year with pride for the stubble head they wore! Who know maybe the Irmo players were just covering for a teammate who got a bad dye job, so they all went out and got one??? Teammates will do a lot for thier friends

Spartan, the comments I made belittled this "strategy," as you call it. If I was a player then yes it may have been effective in making me lose focus on my play, but I am not a player. Just an innocent observer who thinks the Irmo's fashion statement is stupid and makes them look soft.

Ok sG but who really cares what it makes them look like as long as they play well? Maybe they do it so they can see their reflections better in all the state championship rings they've racked up over the years. It becomes painfully obvious when Irmo is playing well because of all the ridiculous threads that are posted. I don't remember this thread the last couple of years when Irmo has been down by their standards. They go undefeated and suddenly the haters become a little easier to pick out.

High school kids do stupid things and when they get older they will realize this was one of them, but if they're gonna do it and they look that terrible people will say things... but i have to say this isn't as bad as one of the directors of a local club bleached his hair. Alma - while I don't think your post will earn you any invites to deliver a commencement speech (though I have you slightly ahead of Uncle Rico and Debbie Downer), I agree with the have fun, kick butt, and only young once comments. Time to celebrate the 4 best teams in 4A. Hey, wando83. You lost. You suck. Irmo was the better team in the matchup at wando and Irmo played with more intensity than Wando. I believe that the only players leaving the pitch with tears in their eyes would have to be your team.

Hick fans? haha ok .. and im pretty sure the game was over since the player that was tackling the two players sheilding the ball like he was playing american football instead of futbol, unless he just plays like that (not considering the ref blew the whistle). IRMO's fans were just into the game and are every game, they feed their energy to their team to support them. and they did a good job of it, they never got quiet tues. night and IRMO fed off the energy to fight for the win. I think IRMO's fans are great, the most loyal and best fans in the state! Not to mention the wando fans who tried to start a fight after the match.. thats a pretty good one though buddy
