Match Notes: It is a beautiful day at The Cage with blue skies and plenty of swirling clouds and mild temperatures this morning ... The PUBLIX tents are at each team's bench and midfield for the trainers and officials, while another one sits at the east end of the stadium where FATZ Cafe will be feeding our tournament volunteers and workers ... Walhalla is wearing the purple-black-black kit while Wando dons the white-white-black strip ... Both teams drove to Cayce this morning - Walhalla is staying three nights at the Riverside Inn in Cayce and Wando is commuting back to Mount Pleasant this afternoon ... HE TAKES PICTURES is on hand and reeled off more than 300 pictures in the first half ... Brandon Burkholder and Eric Fornell of Wando have a brace (two goals) today ... Eric Alsop of Limestone College is in attendance.

Records: N (12-1); PP (10-6).

Match notes: Mid-day here at The Cage and Northwestern is dressed in an all white strip and Pinewood Prep is wearing a navy-white-navy kit ... The pitch is green and with the wide array of colored boots (green, red, yellow, white, etc.) on the pitch it looks like a bag of skittles was spilled ... The wind has picked up from the west and it is blowing directly into the press box as this facility sits on an east-west plane (most - well planned facilities - are generally north-south to prevent the sun rising/setting in those directions) ... Lots of photographers on hand roaming the touchlines and I believe most have visited the FATZ Cafe tent for a delicious box lunch (chicken wrap, salad, chips, sweet tea) ... The Cage's camera tower has national flags of Brookland-Cayce's players representing Honduras, Mexico, Sweden, and the United States.

HELLLLO BOYS (and girls) IMMMMMMMMMMM BACCCCCKKKKK!!!

Stepping off the plane from watching ManU get sent out by the Germans of Bayern Munich I've returned for the greatest season in the world...the South Carolina High School Soccer Season and what better place to make an appearance than the 2010 Palmetto Cup!

Tonights "night cap" (fancy those on Friday and Saturday nights a-thank-you) features the Admirals of Farragut (ranked #1 in Tennesee 3A, 4 ESPN Rise, and 5 NSCAA) vs The Timberwolves of Norman North (ranked #3 in Oklahoma, great place to take your Native American friends if I might add, 6A, 6 ESPN Rise, 6 NSCAA).

Only one injury to report as Farragut coach Wally Culbreath has apparently gracefully tripped over a soccer ball and had to be stretchered off by the athletic training staff at The Cage. It's a beautiful night here in the mid-state of South Carolina, a champion for state's rights!

As they call for captains at midfield I think I saw the illustrious governor of South Carolina Mark Sanford stop by and then leave with lady wearing a Lionel Messi jersey...I didn't know he had Spanish speaking relatives...intriguing to say the least.

I apologize for for the informality from this point on but since I don't know the players by name, like I tell my wife, I'll do my best as always.

Might I add that if you're feeling good about yourself come up to the pressbox at The Cage. The guys in the box will bring you back down to life. They are currently ripping my English accent and my pronunciation of the word "mum".

Action starts out hot and heavy as Farragut wins and early free-kick in the attacking third and it is headed away for a corner followed by a foul by the Admirals.
