How good was Wake Forest freshman defender Alisha Woodson? We had the opportunity to watch her last year in the Clash of the Carolinas (she prepped at Wake Forest-Rolesville HS) and she gets the utmost props from me for her play last night! She'll be another "Blakely Mattern" for the Demon Deacons.

Great season for the Gamecocks! It was indeed a heartbreaker, but what a terrific year and what a great group of girls representing USC!

Such a stunner. Everyone thought for sure we were going into overtime and when the goal scored, we just sat in stunned silence.
Congratulations to the Lady Gamecocks for a wonderful season. I am very sorry they could not continue, but they have accomplished so very much. Hopefully they can build on this in the future.

Incredible year for the Gamecocks and Coaches Shelley Smith, Jamie Smith, and Mat Cosgriff. USC's "spirit" was a refreshing mantra for this long time South Carolina fan and the Gamecocks were a joy to watch and call the games for all fall. Kudos to the seniors, especially co-captains Blakely Mattern and Kim Miller, who really embody the meaning of being a student-athlete at the University of South Carolina!

For the record, Wake Forest will meet North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C., next week in the NCAA Quarterfinals as the Tar Heels slipped past Maryland, 1-0, this afternoon.

Congratulations to the Lady Gamecocks on a great run.

The way the game ended is that just good soccer and a great goal by Wake, or from a coaching standpoint did someone miss a mark or was there a defensive breakdown?

It was a great game with lots of fan support. The Lady Gamecocks should be proud of their hard work this season. We sat stunned at the end of the game.
