No matter they better hurry on both coastal and winthrop jobs-wed. is signing day and they could be losing recruits!!! not smart in taking their time to hire a coach...there are lots of people who could coach these programs.

Posts on NC-soccer web site say that Tammy D from Western Carolina has accepted the CCU position. If true, I pity the remaining CCU players.

From Josh Hoke's blog in the Sun News:

CONWAY | Coastal Carolina hired Tammy DeCesare as the third women's soccer coach in school history Tuesday.

DeCesare, who spent the past five seasons at Western Carolina, replaces Rohan Naraine, whose contract was not renewed after one of the most successful three-year runs in school history. She was 58-36-13 with the Catamounts, who won the 2005 and 2008 Southern Conference championships and appeared in the NCAA tournament.

Western flourished both athletically and academically under DeCesare, earning academic awards from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in each of her five seasons. From 2006 to 2008, her players had a combined GPA of 3.39 or better.

Before taking over at Western, DeCesare was an assistant for six seasons at UNC Wilmington. She was the head coach at Hamline University during the 1998-99 season before leaving for UNCW. DeCesare was a four-year starter at Division II Catawba College and played two seasons of semiprofessional soccer before becoming a coach.

I was told she has a high turnover of players. I know players leave for all reasons so who knows what the real story is. I did a quick look at the previous signing classes and compared to the current roster and with the exception of the Sr class it seems to stick.

1st number is what the press release says, second is if they are still on roster:
Seniors 13/9
Juniors 12/5
Sophs 11/4
Frosh 6/4

I probably should have checked a little closer before posting but I think I am pretty close.

That Jr and Soph class is troubling.

Been quiet since the coaching change at CCU took place. Any word on how the transition is going?

Spoke to a now former player on the team who just quit today. They have had a number of players quit, at least 6, if not more, many of whom blame their leaving on the coaching change and how ridiculous this new coach is.

Overkill on training, fitness tests, academic requirements (needing a 3.5 to get out of study hall). Apparently taking all of the fun and enjoyment out of the game for the players.
