Wow! I didn't realize it was 17 years. I took my Westside girls team to Aiken High for a pre-season match 6 years ago. Ron's Lady Hornets trounced us 7-0, but the highlight was being able to eat pizza in downtown Aiken on the Alley. My girls thought they'd died and gone to heaven.
Year in, year out, no matter the kids he had, Ron was always dangerous, and he always found a way to drive those girls to some big, big wins against top programs. He helped to create the very strong girls soccer atmosphere that has been ever-present for the last 15+ years.
Congratulations on a great career, Ron, I guess all of the Aikenites felt they needed to leave the girls soccer coaching scene right around the same time.
