I'll predict that whoever wins....does NOT repeat as the 3A state champ next year!

No arguments with that prediction!
I believe that if South Aiken can control the middle third 60/40 then it is SAHS 2:1.

Bless us homers. But what makes you think SA can control anything?

South Aiken has got this one!

Next year they are going to be AAAA so we may have a few "rebuilding years" ahead of us.

Regardless, I think it will be a great game! Best of luck to both teams.

Prediction:

Riverside 5
South Aiken 1

What makes you think a defense and goalie that has not been scored on in 8 games will give up 5 goals?

I believe this will be an extremely close, hard fought BATTLE. This is one of those games that will not decide the winner until the final buzzer. If either one of these teams lightens up at any one second the other team will capitalize from it. I can not wait for this game either, it will definitely be intense and I won't doubt for one second that South Aiken won't come out strong after last years loss to this exact same Riverside team.

My prediction 1 0 South Aiken.

16 playoff goals against Eastside, Mann and Greenville. And 7 on TL Hanna just to warm up for the playoffs. A friend from TLH called me the day after that game and said when he woke up that morning they were still scoring.

sa plays in a weak region (airport, bc dreher) and has not been tested as much as riverside. it'll be close/tight for awhile until the pressure of riverside's attack will be too much for sa to withstand. 4 to 0 is my guess. 2 4a size schools playing in the 3a finals?

Fantastic game! I think you underestimated SA. They just ran out of gas in the second half. Congrats to Riverside.

What a magnificent match. I "watched" from 500 miles away with every available web source an open window on my laptop plus my friends at the stadium with texts. Match could have gone either way until the last second, and was decided on the field, the way it should be. I am sorry I was not able to be there personally but I have never been more proud of our Lady T'Breds. What a game by our seniors and especially Mad Dog! Great job girls! Thanks for the super ride this season!

As with the Mauldin/Wando game, this one was also a great game that could have gone either way. SA had the better of it in the first half, Riverside in the second.

In the end, very very little separated these two teams. They could probably play 10 times, resulting in 10 one goal games with each winning five games. Painfully, both teams would also be bruised from head-to-toe and unable to walk.

Congrats to both teams.

I agree with JAK. I am extremely partial to the SAHS Girls, but it was a hard fought battle on both sides of the ball. Congrats to both sides and good luck next season as the challenges of 4A loom in the wings.

SA gave a good fight, but seemed to lose steam late in the match. Another great run by the Lady T-breds though.

Im just curious as to how South Aiken plays in a weak region seeing as how 4 of the 5 teams in the region ended up ranked in the top 11 in 3A with 3 of the 5 teams in the region making it to state quarterfinals. The Region 5 3A teams also accumulated several wins over quality 4A teams as well as wins against other quality 3A and 2A schools. But then again, this comment shouldn't really be surprising as I know of at least one team in the region who has gotten little to no recognition for their season at all. Just a thought... and congratulations to South Aiken on an outstanding season!!

What a joke this comment is--To say SA does not play in a strong conference? Look at Riverside's:
Riverside 22-3-1 8-0-0
Blue Ridge 12-7-2 5-3-0
Greer 4-11-0 4-4-0
Chapman 6-14-0 2-6-0
Union County 2-14-0 1-7-0

Riverside's closest region game was 6-0 and 7-1. 0 teams in this region are ranked besides Riverside.

S.Aiken's region is much more difficult. To even think Riverside was 4 goals better would be insane.

Congrats to both teams on a well played state championship.

I'm a Riverside parent and I first want to say S. Aiken has an awesome soccer team and even a better goalie. She was the best we faced all year.
I'll be the first to admit our region games were weak, but our out of region games that we play every year are probably stronger than the S. Aiken schedule. We played JL Mann twice, Greenville twice, Eastside twice. TL Hanna twice, ranked #4 in 4a when we played them. Mauldin 2x when they were ranked #2 in 4a, and Dorman a 4a team that was ranked in the top 5 in 4a when we played them. But that's not taking anything away from S. Aiken, both Riverside and S. Aiken would be in the top 5 in 4a this year. Sometimes I think they should just eliminate 3a and the private school league and have just 2 divisions.

u missed my point-
sa is a great team (coaches and players) and in the top 4 in the entire state

sa was not challenge often by teams on their schedule

they did not face a stout challenge from the teams in their region (including swansea)

sa dominated in region play

playing a more challenging schedule would have prepared them better to face riverside

wasn’t comparing sa region with riverside’s region

riverside played a more competitive out of region schedule

I agree South Aiken did play a weaker schedule then Riverside and maybe could have been more prepared if they did play a stronger schedule. However, one thing you probably failed to miss while Riverside played stronger South Carolina teams, South Aiken traveled across the river quite a few times to get some top of the line matches. Both teams won their fair share of games, and both teams deserved every win they got. Both teams wins were mostly over ranked teams whether at the moment of the win or later on in the season.

And you say your not comparing regions, how can you compare schedules without comparing regions...each teams region counts into their schedule if I'm not mistaken? Also you make the same comment, but then you say "the did not face a stout challenge from teams in their region" once again you are comparing regions. I would also say that most of these teams toughest opponents were during the Viking Cup putting them almost at an equal standstill.

Whether everybody including yourself misunderstood what you are trying to compare, everybody agrees these teams are almost exactly equal.I agree with JAK in saying "In the end, very very little separated these two teams. They could probably play 10 times, resulting in 10 one goal games with each winning five games. Painfully, both teams would also be bruised from head-to-toe and unable to walk."

Congrats to both teams in a long run, and congrats to Riverside on capitalizing on one of the few mistakes made by the defense. (Just like I said in my post before the game, it will go down to the final 5 minutes and will be decided by the team that makes the first mistake during that time limit, I'd love to say "I was right" but I have much sympathy in my heart for these South Aiken girls after the second loss in this same situation.)
