I don't think White Knoll will win it this year. They lost too much. Flora and Ft. Mill should have a go at it with Valley returning back to their normal selves.

White Knoll did not lose Nestor, yes Nestor transfered to CN , but Nestor did not play one game for White Knoll last year, he sat out the hole season because he decided he didnt want to play, but to awser the question White Knoll lost Ian Murray, and Todd Jhonson, Jerimah Polk, and Christian Hidalgo, but the only major blows to the WK team is Ian Murray and Todd Jhonson (the central defenders from last year) , WK may not be as good as they were last year but they still have a solid team this season, in my opion they are probably in the top 4 of the teams playing in this tournament

I don't think spring valley will win it. I'm thinking South Akien. Maybe Ridgeview, who is a very aggresive team. I think White Knoll has a chance. I heard Fort D is In this tournament, anybody know about them?

i feel Spring Valley has a strong chance. They are playing very well right now and seem to be technically sharp out there. they might be young but they are going to be contenders

FM lost a lot of seniors last year. I feel it will be while before they totally come together and reach their potential. A few seniors are hurt and many new pieces that need to learn how to mesh. The tournament should give the coach a good indication of what they have and FM will be tested. I would expect the more experienced, quality team in this tournament to have the edge.

Got to agree FM may very well be much better later in the year as the team gels. They have a lot of young talent that may take a few games to click with the returning players, hopefully (I think they can) the D will hold up while the new players find their spots.

Best: Need to always consider the host of the tournament and there your answer may lie.
Long run, doesn't matter. This is just a warm-up to the season ahead and just another step in getting a team playoff ready.

I believe the first game will tell us much about the winner of this tournament. No way the Valley comes out on top. They don't have it this year; too young and not coached well enough.

I think White Knoll has a good shot to get to the championship, If you look at the way the tournament is set up their first to games should be wins in my opionion, and their third game is against spring valley, spring valley has to play akien which shouldnt be an easy game at all seeing as akien has just about every starter from last year returning this year, i am not saying they are favorites but you have to like their chances of getting through their group

Group 2 Blythewood 3 Camden 0 White Knoll 6 Wilson 2 Aiken 1 Spring Valley 0
The orginal schedule had SA playing LE two times. The schedule was then changed to eliminate that error. The Ridge View coach did not make the schedule.

My beloved Red Foxes were a little overmatched in Columbia. Weather was nice, fields were so-so. Caliber of competition seemed average to above except for South Aiken, who appears to be the class of the tournament. I expected better from AC Flora and Spring Valley.

It was Aiken 2 S. Aiken 1
With just under 30 to go it's Aiken 3 White Knoll 0. Aiken has had several 1 on 1 breakaways that were hit wide or over.

bar25 would not have been so shocked at Aiken over S. Aiken had he seen the game. Aiken simply out played them. Sometimes an over-confident team doesn't give credit where credit is due, and ends up surprised. Aiken High looked good this weekend. I hope they have a good season. They've got some great talent.

It's obvious what happen here... Everyone went with the school rankings and since Aiken wasn't ranked everyone underestimated them. I saw them play and they were the best and well condition team out there. Everyone who says otherwise did not see them play and is wrong. I look forward to seeing them have a great season.

Pro is correct. Even the one goal Aiken allowed was a mental mistake by not playing to the whistle when they saw the ball go out of bounds. The championship very easily could have been 10-0. South Aiken will remain a competitor simply because of the strong rivalry between the two schools. Lexington's the only other competitor, but I've not seen them play yet this year. Aiken is for real.

It just makes no sense. South Aiken is the same team from last year. They went to State Finals in AAA. And I even looked up last year scores and Aiken got hammered by South Aiken.

I highly doubt that Lexington is gonna win their region after seeing their scores of the Carolina Classic... They only won 1 game out of 4. They even lost to some teams I had never even heard of.. No I think either Aiken or South Aiken will win their region this year.

okay im getting frustrated with seeing post like this, south aiken is not as good as everyone things, yea they did great in 3A but guess what? they are no longer in 3A, South Akien is an extremely overated team, you cant look at preseason rankings and judge a team by that cause quite frankly preseason rankings are somewhat of a joke, the top 15 teams right now wont be op 15 at the end of the year, in fact i would be willing to guess that maybe only 8 of the teams in the top 15 right now will be there at the end. But the fact is Akien is an extremely good team, i watched them play and they are big, fast, and physical, and in my opinion they will probably win the region this year, i have south akien finishing 3rd or 4th in the region , If south akien wanted to win then they probably should of stayed in 3A

bar25, South Aiken did lose an important player from last year...the goalie, who was an exchange student and went back to Germany. They also lost a senior who is now playing at Newberry College, and 2 other seniors who contributed a lot to the team. So, while they still have a lot of the same players, they are not the same team. Aiken is very much the same team with a few players who have moved up from jv and a freshman, who will contribute a lot this year. While it's too soon to know who will win the region, I expect a lot of good games from Aiken. And South Aiken as well. Maybe you should catch one of the Hornets games, and see for yourself.

Really Benny? Because last time I saw, the top AAA teams looked like they could easily keep up with the best of AAAA, outside of Irmo and NW of coarse.
And Fan. No one from SA made all state last year which means to me that they couldnt have went from AAA finalist to not winning an easy tournament seems like something else is going wrong at South Aiken.

It's not that anything has gone wrong at SA. Every starter is back for Aiken. Some good talent from JV moved up, and the freshman sensation at right back completed an already strong back line. Aiken is also in the third year of implementing a complicated formation change. Their players are finally figuring out how to play within their new system. Instead of looking for mistakes by other programs, consider the possibility that Aiken had just improved that much. They're a blue collar type of team. Hard work and great chemistry. Both traits can never be over rated.

2010 Massey Ratings Top 25 Teams * 7 4A teams in Top 15 * 4 3A teams in Top 15 * 1 2A team in Top 15 * 2 1A teams in Top 15 * 1 SCISA team in Top 15
That is a pretty fair split between Class 4A and the rest of the classifications
4A - Irmo (1), Northwestern (2), Wando (4), Mauldin (7), Lexington (8), Fort Mill (11), Beaufort (12), West Ashley (18), Summerville (19), Dorman (21), Fort Dorchester (23), White Knoll (25)
3A - J.L. Mann (3), Riverside (6), Eastside (10), Chapin (13), South Aiken (16), North Myrtle Beach (20), Brookland-Cayce (22)
2A - Bishop England (15)
1A - Southside Christian (5), Christ Church (9)
SCISA - Cardinal Newman (14), Pinewood Prep (17), Hammond (24)

really, then how do you explain south akien , the unstopable 3A team that dominated 3A for the years they were there, the same South akien that won the 3a state championship losing to akien, who just made it to the second round last year in teh 4a playoffs, akien is a decent team, but south akien? not so sure about them

Thanks Coach Eudy. I must have made a wrong turn at the Samurai bandanna. Think I was distracted by the Kumete taking place by an official's pre-game warm-up.

really, then how do you explain south akien , the unstopable 3A team that dominated 3A for the years they were there, the same South akien that won the 3a state championship losing to akien, who just made it to the second round last year in teh 4a playoffs, akien is a decent team, but south akien? not so sure about them
Shut up benny all you do is talk and talk and you don't know anything. First South Aiken has graduated twenty players over the last two years. Off last year alone they lost 6 starters and ten total, and it takes time to come together as a team. But their is still no reason for them to lose to Aiken

Really S&P? They came right up when I googled them. Aiken may not be a big soccer name, but SA is anything but unknown. A couple of state championships at both the 3A and 4A levels in the past ten years garners attention.

obviously you dont know anything, their are plenty of reasons why south akien should loss to akien, lets start with some, akien is a better team, akien is a more physical team, akien is faster, akien has a better coach, and on top of that south akien just isnt that good, and how can you really say that when south akien in fact loss to akien, as of now, akien is better, a lot better too,

What did everyone think of the 3A schools present? Camden, Hartsville, and Wilson all had brutal schedules.

Are you real? This is borderline insulting to the educational system in the state of SC (not that it has never been insulted before). It's Aiken. A-I-K-E-N
Love them or hate them, at least be able to spell their name properly. Otherwise, no one will listen to you. Ok pumpkin?

Ah yes, I forgot AC Flora. Didn't Fort Mill used to be 4A? I know they realigned everything this year.

I apologize for not catching your humor, but too many folks in this state only know where Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville are located. I guess I'm just used to the geographically illiterate majority.

They didnt impress me that much as a team but each school had some individual talent.

Why does Benny & EV keep spelling Aiken -- Akien? Am I missing something?

You're right Benny...two state championships in five years must mean that South Aiken's coach is clearly less than adequate (in two different classifications none the less...including 4A). On top of that going to the State Championship for the third time must show that the coach doesn't know how to get the most out of his players.
Great job to Aiken for the hard fought win, but clearly many people must be watching a different South Aiken program over the last few years than you Benny.
Being in the Aiken area, I love to see the hard work of all of the kids paying off (both teams). I believe South Aiken will bounce back even more after this preseason. Good luck to Aiken as well!

No doubt spending his time untangling his wad of silly bandz rather than posting...
One can only hope.
