These both are very good looking preseason tournements. Which one do you guys think has the better field and will have better matchups??

(8-4A)Mauldin
(1-2A)Bishop England
(2-2A)Chapin
(2-4A)Northwestern
(6-4A)Dorman
(4-SCISA)Ben Lippen
(4-4A)Dutch Fork
(8-3A)Dreher
(1-4A)Irmo
T.L. Hanna
(5A-Geogia)Walton
AC Flora

(4-3a)Greenville
(1-SCISA)Porter-Gaud
Summerville
(5-4a)Wando
(12-4a)James Island
(1-3a)Myrtle Beach
(3-SCISA)Pinewood Prep
(9)Spring Valley
Brookland-Cayce
(10) Socastee
Stratford
York

Just from the ranking I would say the LMI looks better. The C group in the CSC looks weak.
why place 3 of the 4 unranked teams in the same group??

But the key to remember is that this is a preseason tournement, these teams will probably be very different at the begining of May

I am going to have to vote for the Lake Murray Challenge. Where else are you going to see the top 2 preseason 4A teams, the top 2A team, and Walton, who is always good year ofter year in Georgia? It will be interesting to see what Walton brings this year. They had an off year last year, for them. Look for them to bring an awesome game on Saturday morning. They never start their starters until they play Irmo. They always play their second 11 in the first game. I wish I could make it to that game! Good luck to everyone involved in the tourney. should be some really good games.

Looks like two great tournaments to me. Kudos for the teams willing to compete in these type settings so early in the season. Rarely do teams come home from Charleston without some marks in the loss or tie column, so I think we can expect more of the same with the new Lake Murray tournament.

Lots of traditional powers, but I think you might see a couple of teams at Lake Murray kind of down this year. I won't speculate further until I see them this weekend. One question, was there any thought as to having all or most of the games at one site instead of spreading them out at three different locations? That's kind of tough to watch all the soccer.

How did York get invited to the Charleston tourney? I just don't know much about that team, does anyone else? Also, how is the new coach at Wando working out? Is Summerville going to better this year? Seems to be a lot of new coaches in the Lowcountry this season.

Go Devils, take down the Foxes!

I agree, it's gonna be hard to watch the games for the Lake Murray Tourney. What matches are people looking forward to? I'm looking forward to watching the SCISA teams play the big dogs of public schools. These are always interesting matches. What are peoples thoughts on those?

Here's some information on the 2004 Carolina Soccer Classic that will be held at Patriots Point Athletic Complex in Mount Pleasant this weekend. I compiled this for Brookland-Cayce's game notes, so I just plugged in the information from that data.

Using the Massey Ratings that are compiled each year at season's end, following are the "power ratings" for the past three years of the teams competing this weekend:

Team, Avg. Power Rank (03-02-01), Win %, Record, B-C vs. Opp. since '95
TOP 10
Wando, 8.7 (4-8-14), .853, 63-10-2, series tied 0-0-1
Greenville, 10.0 (16-2-12), .820, 52-11-1, series tied 1-1-0
11-20
James Island, 11.3 (18-12-4), .764, 54-16-2, JI leads 2-0-1
Spring Valley, 11.3 (9-17-8), .715, 48-17-7, BC leads 1-0-0
Myrtle Beach, 14.3 (25-11-7), .861, 61-9-2, series tied 2-2-0
21-30
Socastee, 25.0 (31-28-16), .673, 51-24-3, SOC leads 1-0-0
Summerville, 26.7 (39-16-25), .648, 43-22-6, BC leads 3-0-0
Brookland-Cayce, 27.7 (62-18-3), .695, 54-22-6
41-50
Stratford, 41.7 (47-47-28), .515, 33-31-3, BC leads 2-0-0
Porter-Gaud, 45.3 (30-49-57), .563, 44-34-1, BC leads 4-2-0
York, 48.0 (53-84-77), .508, 33-32-1, BC leads 1-0
51-60
Pinewood Prep, 57.0 (33-65-73), .641, 29-16-1, never played

Irmo 3 1 T.L. Hanna
The game went into double overtime tied 1-1. Irmo then scored a beautiful goal, and scored off of a throw in a little more than a minute later. Very intense game by both sides.
