Rarely, if ever, do we really thank referees for the work that they do. I want to let everyone know that one of the very best officials in the Rock Hill area died this week of a brain tumor. I had the pleasure of working with him as a referee and a coach. Please keep his family in your thoughts.

You are correct in that too often officials receive more negative than positive comments on the site when they are really an important part of the soccer family.

About 10 years ago in Charleston we lost Dick Walsh( a great official and my friend) in an accident.

The North-South committee thought so much of Dick that they started an annual award in his name given out at the awards banquet.

Sorry to hear about Mr. Ostrower. Far too young. Our family will keep his in our prayers.

Bryan was the best, most respected, high school official that we had up here in the Rock Hill district.

A terrible loss for all of us.

I couldn't agree more. A fine official and even better person. God bless you Bryan. You will be missed.

And he will live on with all the life's he has touched. I for one appreciate the mentorship and support he provided me on and off the pitch. He will be missed in many ways and my prayers go out to his family.

Terrible news when someone so young passes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to those who knew him for their loss.
