Kasey Black from Woodruff should be on the list. May have misspelled her name. Stephanie D. too low.

Best power I have seen is from a Riverside forward who loves to blind side defenders with an elbow to the jaw. Seen it twice this season, pretty cool. Acts like she is jumping to do something and throws it to person looking the other way, our kid needed her jaw popped back in place. Sort of like a super man punch in MMA since she is jumping into them. Call it the super girl elbow! Sorry if this offends the guilty. And she should be Dqed each time.

This might be the worst thread we've ever had on this forum. We've done a pretty good job over the years of not commenting on individual girls regarding "who's the best". Only leads to negative comments like the one above.

Wokafuhkaflowers, save it for the boys.

waka,

I appreciate you trying to provide some individual recognition for the ladies that you listed.

The teams that you mention above are voted on by an informed panel of coaches.....and they don't provide any commentary/opinions along with their selections.

Unfortunately, on a forum like this, when we try to recognize individual acheivement, it always seems to end up "going south".

Wow! How many red cards has she been given? Maybe the officials see it differently than the unbiased fans of an opponent.

Thank you Hurst for your posting. As the parent of this Riverside forward that is being referred to I feel like I need to say that while she does play aggressive, she does not do this with the intent to hurt anyone. In fact I believe that it was the State game last year where she stopped to help one of the players on the opposing team stretch out a cramp. Yes she plays through the ball and uses her upper body strength to head the ball...but it is defintely not in the manner that this "parent" is referring to. I actually think that if this parent has girls playing...he has forgotten that they are all still 17/18 year olds and he might need to control his own mouth while the game is being played or not get on a public form and bash another person's child, without actually knowing that child.

Calling out a high school girls player???? If you're from the HS I think you're from, you're probably wishing you had 11 forwards like the one from Riverside. She's been in the state finals the past 3 years and has helped bring home a state championship in 2 of them. A first teamer all state last year,an all region player twice. Maybe you need to toughen your HS team up a little bit.

I love this thread...keep the rankings coming. It should be noticed when girls do great things on the field.

Waka keep an eye on Casey Black from Woodruff, Megan Fish from Pinewood and the forward from Ridge View...definitely honorable mentions.

Aggressive play hardly, I don't know the young lady being called super elbow girl, but coaches know who the physical players are, and they do encourage physical play sometimes by being the special marker, sending them into harms way or letting them play on. Opposing coaches will also try having their players chip away to try and get to get a player to blow their top and take them out of the game. Some call them enforcers, teammates look to them as leaders or protectors. My daughter when she played had a coach without a clue lots of talent on the team but under achieved was a yearly event. So some yes coaches (boys and girls) encourage boarderline play either directly or indirectly. The big problem is most are still to young to get the proper balance on their own.

Physicality is a part of soccer. I think that's what makes it such a great game, the elite soccer player is in better physical shape than almost any other sport. What we are seeing in alot of these High School games is Brutality, teams trying to make up for their lack of skill with sheer brute force. We recently had a game that looked more like a Hockey Game than a soccer match. I must say that the Referee completely lost control of the game from the beginning. There are girls who have promising college careers ahead of them who are putting it all on the line everytime they walk on the field to battle these coaches, teams and referees that don't have a clue what a real soccer game looks like.

Calling out HS players is wrong. However, if an adult really feels the need...don't hide behind your keyboard. Please be mature enough to post your given name, phone number, and other contact information. You never know when another adult might want to contact you to discuss in more detail. I'm just sayin

As a premier member of this focus group (as well as the boys group in the other forum) I feel it valuable to make you aware of the specific members of this esteemed panel. As you can see these people have extensive knowledge of not just soccer but the women's game and SC communities as well.

We've tried to get her to take that medal off (maybe out of jealousy) but she just won't do it. I guess if you win everything like she has, you can flaunt whatever you want. Here's a pic Mia snapped outside of the deliberations right before we released the rankings. I'd just like to say thank you to our sponsors: Sony, Microsoft, Apple, Texas Instruments, Adidas, NIKE, AIG, and Duplin Wine for contributing so much to the cause.

Anson flew in on my private helicopter connected to my yacht. He enjoyed some fresh crappy, bass, and brim from Lake Murray in a variety of ways while being served by my elite "hottie posse". Anson needs no explanation as he serves as the head of coaching and director of soccer for the Girls Power Rankings.

Hope Solo is our Goalkeeper specialist. We appreciate her taking time off from modeling to help us out with the rankings. Sometimes she flies in with Anna Kournikova and other athletes turned models to grace us with their presence.

Here is our director of talent and public relations. He has a great stage presence and a real knack for understanding women and their various roles in society in the 21st century.

Here is Marta accepting her award for already winning the Duplin's 2011 NCAA Basketball Bracketology Challenge. We were floored when we found out she had VCU in the Final Four! Unbelievable! In other matters, Marta helps list unknown players across the state that we may miss. You may see her on the sidelines at your next Pelion or Belton-Honea Path game.

Our last judge needs no introduction. No one knows more (about) women than him. Tiger is a very busy individual as he's always on the prowl lately but, he usually finds time to text in his rankings...

Having seen all but one play, a pretty good list although Black from Woodruff should be there over a player that has been out all year. As far as the classless post pointing out 1 player, I would point out that she is one of the few in the state that actually jumps to win the ball in the air with her head while most play it with their feet under them on the ground. It is pretty difficult to jump with your arms held to your side so when she jumps they are at the head level of the girl playing the ball while on the ground. She wins the ball. Also, If I am not mistaken her team lost 3 players to injury this past weekend in one game due to "physical" play so calling out 1 players with blinders to everyone else shows total ignorance and a lack of class.

Lets make a distinction between physical and reckless. Its better to give the shot instead of taking one as far as injury. I know some of these girls could care less if they get ball as long as its legal enough to not get carded. And you girls need to quit telling people on facebook you took someone out and then cry about bad reputation later. Pretty is as pretty does.

Not scared...just didn't want to "stoop to his level". My daughter, the one being called out, does not read this soccer forum but the things said here wouldn't bother her anyway. She plays because she enjoys playing with and against the friends that she has met over the years in both Club and High School. I guess I felt like I needed to defend her as her parent, but really no need because she has always played aggressive and I don't think as a senior she is going to change now because someone criticizes her. However she does play to win.

Careful with that I think you will find dissing a girl to her mom will buy you a lot more grief than saying it to her dad! I mean sure dad may want to pop you up side the head, but mom... she would be more likely to track you down and pull out all of your hairs 1 by 1 until you admit your mistake and swear never to mention her child again, EVER!!

Coach and Hurst...I really don't give a crap what you think! The committee feels the same way! Chass maybe if you take some notes from some of the players of this list your guys team would score more than 5 goals in 8 games.

I don't diss girls. I would just prefer not to listen to Father's bicker about other girls on the message board. The boys side has bickering but it's of the rivalry and sporting type.

Aw, man...Waka doesn't care what I think, and neither do his imaginary celebrity friends. Now my self-esteem is damaged and my whole day is ruined. Couple that with the incisive criticism of our boys' program and I might just go crawl in a hole somewhere.

Yeah, it really is April Fool's day. LAWGS can't hurt my feelings. Y'know, if people could figure out a way to be positive about the people they support without taking cheap negative shots at others, I would have a lot more respect for their choices of people to support.

TJ...very true. And the commentary wasn't directed at Waka, Flocka, or Myers until the unsolicited cheap shot at the boys' program. It was more in support of Hurst's point that others would bring negativity into it.

But, then, someone wanted to start taking personal shots.

Once more, and I am typing very slowly this time.

Rankings--nothing inherently wrong with them, even if they are based on subjectivity and attributed to imaginary committees and uninvolved "sponsors."

People feeling they need to find ways to insult people they don't agree with...kinda sad.

Pointing out scores in a derogatory manner for a team from the same school as someone you perceive as slighting you...not only a symptom of the above syndrome, but fairly weak.

Hurst was right...the problem is not in the rankings, it's in the reactions.

Power Rankings:

7. Allison Pantuosco, Clover

Ok either the crack/top notch/highly touted rating staff have found a third and lesser known Pantuosco who plays for Clover.

Past/Current Rosters have included:
Pantuosco, Alissa
Pantuosco, Samantha
but no Allison???
(Who know maybe this crack staff has found a new talent?)

or

One of "Allison"'s special powers is to have a secret identity which allows her keep rating committees confused as to who she really is, and Clemson is not getting who they thought

or

We have a JAFO who is just FUBAR and has once again proven SNAFU applies to these kinds of posts.

ESPN Rise

Girls’ Soccer Player of the Week

Hannah Allison, Riverside (Greer, S.C)
The senior forward had five goals and four assists last week as Riverside won a pair of league matches followed by a title at the Airport Lady Classic. Allison, who earned All-State honors last year, had a goal and one assist as Riverside handled the host Airport (West Columbia, S.C.), 4-0, in the final. Riverside, a traditional Class 3A soccer power, is 14-1-1 on the season and is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A by the state coaches in the program's first year in the large-school classification.
