Final Match of the day with the Cardinals of Cardinal Newman facing the Eagles of Eastside. Cardinal Newman is coming off a huge win over Norman North last night, with the Eagles having lost in their first match to Wando. With the sun setting on the west end of the Cage, we will get this game underway in just a moment..

and here we go with Cardinal Newman in the all black uni's attacking the west end of the Cage. Eastside in the Yellow-blue-blue kit attacking the east end.

We aere 10 minutes in, pretty much uneventful, with both sides having taken one shot each.

A breakaway gives Eastside a great opportunity but a terrible shot goes right to the keepers feet for an easy grab. The Eastside player is rightly distraught and he shows it by pulling his shirt over his face in embarrassment.

Seems without the injured Cardinal defender Collins in the game the defense is a little loose tonight.

Currently Eastside appears to be in control of this match, but again the Cardinals keeper continues to come up with great saves. This guy will be one to watch!

and finally the Eagles are able to penetrate the back line, with a goal in the 24th minute!

After 30' the score remains 1-0 with Eastside on top!

and in the 33rd minute on a corner the ball slips through the Eastside keepers hands and another defender catches it resulting in an automatic red card. this gives CN the PK, with movement on the first shot, it will be redone....and goal!! Eastside will now play a man down with the score tied up 1-1.

Question now is, will Eastside be able to continue to control the match with only 10 players.

We will head into the half knotted up at 1 each!

A couple of half time stats, Eastside has dominated the shot board with an 11-2 edge. Eastside also leads in the foul column with 6 versus 3 for CN. both teams have been afforded 2 corners each. While the Eastside keeper has not had a save on 2 shots, the Carinal keeper has stopped 7.

A quick start here in the 2nd leads to a great oppurtunity as the Cards get a break away, but the ensuing shot just sails harmlessly away.

Wow, after some back and forth battling the CN keeper makes a fantastic one handed save, then on the counter the Eastside keeper comes up big also.

60' in the match and we are still knotted at 1! Eastside with a man down is still very much in this.

On a rebound CN player absolutely slams one home from outside the box!! This ball sailed straight to the back of the net, did not pass go, did not collect $200! Great goal!

So with 10' to play, Cardinal Newman owns the 2-1 lead

drawing down under 2 minutes, CN keeping the ball down in the Eastside defensive end........and thats the whistle to end this match, with the final Cardinal Newman 2-1 Eastside.
