No, the state rules by the OSSAA have not changed and according to Mike Clark, who joined the organization three years ago, Norman North has been in violation of the rules for quite some time. However, other schools and sports have operated under the same understanding as NN did in boys soccer and have been granted waivers. A teleconference is scheduled for this morning and we should know more by noon.

That is the way it worked out.

Really see no difference in matches that start at 7:30 or 8 p.m. Match will be over around 9:40 and FMHS should be home around 11 or 11;30 (about 1:15-1:30 hour drive) from Cayce to Fort Mill. Irmo and Northwestern are in school this week as well. Would have been the same for NHS.

Really no biggie. Just play!

It is 12:00 p.m., and we are live at The Cage for the 20th Annual Palmetto Cup hosted by Brookland-Cayce High School. The current temperature is 61 degrees with an 8-10 mph wind from the northwest. Nothing but blue skies in Cayce!

We will post box scores at the conclusion of each match in this thread. Norman North HS has landed in Columbia and will use today as a travel day since the TimberWolves have had to forfeit tonight's match with Christ Church. In lieu of that forfeiture, the Fort Mill/Wando contest scheduled for 6:30 p.m., at Granby Education Center has been moved to 8 p.m., at The Cage - making all four opening day matches on the campus of BCHS.

Teams are asked to check-in upon arrival at The Cage to pick up your team's tournament box of T-Shirts, program, bags, etc.

In the 20th minute, the Wildcats' Hunter Bailey was on the receiving end of a brilliant diagonal pass from Daniel Bretz, taking a shot from the left angle of the box. B-C GK Grant Strickland made the save and the loose ball was cleared by the defense. The Bearcats countered after an offsides call negated a Wildcat goal, with three shots off of two corners -- one of which narrowly missed the right post. On 24', still 0-0 with shots 8 to 5 for the host Bearcats.
