Halftime - Bishop England 1:0 Cardinal Newman

The Cardinals nearly even it up with two shots and two corners in the last three minutes of the first half. As the second half gets underway, a ball in the area not cleared sat inside the six and waited inticingly for Jack Sicker to finish. The hammer failed to drop, though, and it went low and wide a foot to the right of the post.

GOAL!!! Bishop England 1:1 Cardinal Newman

Wofford signee and Cardinal senior Nestor Jaramillo puts the Redbirds from Forest Drive on the scoreboard with the equalizer. The hammer dropped from 12 yards on 44', and Bishop netminder Ross Rogers had no chance to stop this one. A real no-doubter. Play is solid in both directions, with the CN holding a slim 9-8 advantage on shots.

One hour played in The Cage as match number two continues to be a very hard-fought, evenly played event. Nestor fired away from just outside the area and looked to be goal-bound. But a defender leaped up and managed to deflect the potential shot to the six near the far post. Thomas Touma's flick on was handled by Bishop goalkeeper Rogers, and it remains even at 1-1.

GOALS!!! Bishop England 1:3 Cardinal Newman

The Cardinals jump out in front on 66' off of their 9th corner kick as Cam Parker lofts it into the box and Jacob August heads it past Ross Rogers, denying him his 7th save. The defender was there, but failed to put a body on August. While typing this entry "and this match is far from over", University of South Carolina-bound and national team member Koty Millard gets free and hammers it home for what may be the match-winner on 70'.

GOALS!!! Irmo 2:0 Northwestern (7', 11')

One shot, one goal. Irmo midfielder Andrew Foard is on the receiving end of a tap back inside the six from Josh Jenkins to quickly put the nation's #1 ranked Yellow Jackets on top. Before we could finish the post, a throw-in which was mishandled results in an own goal.

GOAL!!! Irmo 3:0 Northwestern (15')

The Yellow Jackets continue their onslaught against the Rock Hill powerhouse. A Matt Manter corner kick finds Josh Jenkins, who adds a goal to his assist by heading it in from inside the goalie box after just a quarter of an hour in The Cage. Four shots deliver three on goal and in for the perennially competitive, Phil Savitz led Irmese.

GOAL!!! Irmo 4:0 Northwestern (27')

Hmm, there's a repeating element to today's third match as five Irmo shots produce four goals. Irmo's Caleb Jenkins makes the most of his being on the receiving end of a deflected corner kick. He burys his shot to put the Trojans in a very big hole on 27 minutes.

GOAL!!! Irmo 4:1 Northwestern (40')

A ball handled in the area results in a spot kick for the Trojans. Senior midfielder Nate Torbett hits a low shot to Jacket goalie Raad Wuulner's right, as he guessed right. But it was just out of his reach, caroming into the back of the net off the post. It's halftime in The Cage for today's third match, with Irmo well in front having out shot Northwestern by 6 shots to 2.
