Second half action is underway, and we've played nearly a quarter-hour with the score still 1-0 in favor of Wando. The
Warriors have had the better of the play in the match thus far, and have put three more shots on the frame -- two of which required a Yellow Jacket save. Goalkeepers changed for each team for the final 40 minutes.

GOAL!!! Fort Mill 1:1 Wando (56')

So much for the run of play comment! Kevin Fielden, senior midfielder for the Jackets, explodes forward with a burst of speed and puts himself in. As Wando netminder Hunter Greer comes forward off his line to cut the angle, Fielden lets loose with a 12 yard strike which goes under the outward-rushing Greer for the equalizer. Once again, it's end-to-end action in tonight's nightcap.

GOAL!!! Fort Mill 1:2 Wando (71')

From 25 yards out and after having just made his way onto the pitch, Hamilton Carlin rips it and watches as it dings off the left post and over the end line. Fort Mill's goal kick is won by the Warriors and Carlin finds junior midfielder Hunter Danna, who hammers it home for a 2-1 Warrior lead.

An update from Northwestern Coach Dom Wren late tonight (thanks, Dom! ... abbreviated a bit for the sake of posting):

Mohit Gupta, 16 years old senior from NHS, suffered a broken tibia and fibula early in the second half of last night's Palmetto Cup. He will have surgery later today (12 April). Mohit, last year's recipient of the SC Young Doctor of the Year award, will attend USC next year.

On behalf of Mohit and the staff at Northwestern HS, thanks go out to the medical staff at The Cage for their prompt and thorough care. In addition, thank you to the players, coaches and supporters of Irmo High School for their show of class and compassion throughout the injury time.

We wish this outstanding young man a quick and full recovery from this injury, and all the best in his future endeavors.

Quote:

Last we heard, unofficially and overheard from a parent who was heading to Palmetto Richland, it was believed that he had fractured his leg. He appeared to be as OK as one could be given the circumstances.

Quote:

I hope that Mohit is ok...any updates on him?
