Wando gets off a nice shot from a cross, but the Card keeper slaps it up and over. 8" in

and a grenade takes down a Card in the box for a shot from the spot.......and balls in the net! CN 1-0 Wando

and now just minutes later, off a corner, the warriors knot it up, 1-1. 14 minutes in.

Penalty Given on 9'! Wando defender Brock King brings down Cardinal forward Jack Sicker as he makes a run up the left side of the pitch inside the area and Referee Steve Abbott points to the spot without hesitation. Goalkeeper Hunter Greer guesses to his left as Wofford-bound senior forward Nestor Jaramillo hammers it home -- not that it would have been saved. Before we could post, though, Wando countered with a nice finish by future Gamecock and defender Trent Rieflin. Rieflin was on the receiving end of a nice corner placed in by Erik Clark to even the score at 1:1 on 13'.

Boom, and in the 36th, after a debacle in the box, Wando comes away with another. CN 1-2 Wando.

Sophomore midfielder Christopher Corontzes finds the back of the net for the Warriors. Forward Hamilton Carlin worked himself in on the left angle of the six and fired away at Cardinals' netminder Thomas Wilczewski who deflected the shot to his left. But Corontzes was following and finished from near right post inside the six. Wando have had the better of the play in the first half, but not by much. The Warriors have outshot Cardinal Newman 7-4, and have had three corners to one for the Redbirds. CN made some good chances for themselves, but were unable to capitalize.

The second half is underway, and Coach Will Eudy's Cards have taken his halftime talk to heart. A free kick awarded to the top-ranked SCISA team was taken by Jaramillo, who hammers it off the crossbar and the ball is cleared. Not long after, Wando goes back on the attack and senior forward James Appleby fires away at Wilczewski, who makes the save. He can't collect it, though, and the rebound heads to Christian Jablonski. The junior midfielder looked to add to the lead, but his shot was cleared inside the six by defender Nick Palevich. Great action here at The Cage for today's first match!

GOAL!!! Wando 2:2 Cardinal Newman

Like I said, Cardinal Newman has picked it up this frame. Senior Andrew Wilczewski follows up a shot by classmate Thomas Touma on 56' which is unbelievably cleared off the line by a Wando defender. The clear hits the crossbar and back to Wilczewski, who hammers it home to equalize. We've got us a ballgame, ladies and gentlemen!
