Halftime -- Lexington 0:0 Bishop England

Forty minutes are in the books in today's second match. The Bishops looked to have had the advantage in the first half, outshooting the Lexington squad by four shots to one. Each team has had two corners, and only five fouls were whistled by referee Alan Correa (3-2 in favor of BE). But the disallowed goal made for an interesting first half, albeit against the run of play.

Its a shame that B-E has been missing one of thier best players (Khouri) this year, they have still been very good in thier matches.

The second half is underway, and five minutes in Lexington's Sammy Andrews finds an opening near the top of the area and drills a shot goalwards. It is right to Ross Rogers, junior netminder for the Bishops, though. He holds on for the save and punts the ball near the center circle, resulting in open play.

Just over an hour played in today's second match at The Cage, and it is still a scoreless draw. The Bishops now lead in shots (9-3), corners (3-2), and fouls (5-4), but not on the scoreboard where it counts. Lexington may be a bit on their heels, but not enough to warrant counting them out offensively.

Bishop England very nearly score on a Lexington own goal with 7 to play. The throw-in from near the end line was headed around the box and an attempted flick away found the ball precariously near the goal line then off the post before senior defender Jon Holleman clears it for the Wildcats. Still 0:0 now on 75'.

The Wildcats make it even more interesting, as both Adam Yonge and Sammy Andrews have good opportunities at finding the back of the net. Both shots are off target, and it remains scoreless.

FT - Lexington 0:0 Bishop England

A late Lexington flurry and three shots in the last 5 minutes are not enough to break the tie. Each team earns 4 points for the draw, a far different result than these squads first meeting at Patriots Point in the season-opening Raising Cane's Carolina Soccer Classic. The Bishops took that contest by 3 goals to nil.

Note: We are heading to Granby Education Center for the next match (Norman North OK vs. Northwestern) and will be splitting up the crew in the Press Box. There will likely be only a few updates until we get back for the 8:00 match in The Cage. We will catch you up when we can. Thanks!
