Halftime - Brookland-Cayce 0:1 Wando

Wow. A B-C long throw by Jalin Butler finds its way inside the six and very near the end line. Bearcat defender Scottie Newman gets a body up and on Wando's Hunter Greer in goal, who rather than letting the ball sail unimpeded into the goal mouth, spills it into the net, and the crowd goes wild. But referee Barry Lee says otherwise. The whistle blows and he points West, and Wando dodges a bullet just before the half.

Just over fifty played ... Warriors are still on top, but there's a battling spirit left in the ranks of the River Rats. Wando are still leading the shots tally, as they hold a 10-5 advantage. They know there's still a match underway.

GOAL!!! Brookland-Cayce 0:2 Wando (55')

The Brookland-Cayce defense makes a crucial mistake and mis-hits the clear. Senior forward James Appleby is there to take advantage and hits a six yard strike for which goalkeeper Grant Strickland has no chance to defend. While a two goal lead is typically the toughest to defend, the mountain the Bearcats must climb is more like a shear cliff. Let the scaling begin.

The crossbar is kind to the Warriors. A B-C free kick is awarded as Junior forward Herbert Cojulun is fouled just outside the area about two-thirds up the width of the box. Bearcat Gustavo Gonzaga fires a rocket off the middle of the crossbar, Wando makes the clear, and open play resumes. On the other end, Jackson Karolczyk plays a ball across to Hamilton Carlin, who finds Hunter Danna. Danna finds the back of the net, but the flag is up. Still very good action in The Cage as we approach 70 minutes.

GOAL!!! and FT - Brookland-Cayce 1:2 Wando

The Fighting Bearcats live up to their name and never say die. Wando players claim a B-C back handles it in the area, but Barry Lee has none of it. B-C counters and Cojulun finds ball at foot. He makes a couple of nifty moves, tries to find some help and attracts Wando defenders. They force a diagonal pass to an onwards rushing Bearcat, who is met by Warrior defenders and he sends the ball over to Cojulun again. He chests it down near the feet of Bearcat midfielder Gustavo Gonzaga. He takes a touch or two, and fires away from just outside the right side of the arc. The rifled shot hits the back of the net just before the 80:00 mark on the clock to close out the match on the heels of a 2-1 loss to the state's third ranked AAAA squad.

GOALS!!! Bishop England 1:2 Norman North (OK) 51'

The second half of the Bishop England vs. Norman North (OK) match is now 22 minutes in with the score Bishops 1, Timberwolves 2. Bishop England led off the scoring as Brian Byrne was on the receiving end of a square pass across the area from Michael Reifeis and buried it on 22'. Andrew Costa started the series of events with a nice through ball to claim the double assist. The Battlers went into halftime with the slim 1:0 advantage.

North coach Geovanni Claros must have handed it to the T-wolves at the half as they came out fired-up. It took less than 3 minutes to equalize. Cole Johnson's 43' goal was unstoppable as the Daniel Islanders looked to be a bit confused in their marking in the back. Eight minutes later, sophomore midfielder Mauro Cichero hammered the ball home from 12 yards to give the Oklahomans a 2-1 advantage. Good action again in The Cage, with Norman North having a 9-6 shot advantage thus far.

GOAL!!! Bishop England 1:3 Norman North (OK) 72'

Ross Rogers did all he could to combat the clear, sunny western sky and the Timberwolves in the 72nd minute. Ashton Bray fired one from within the silhouette of the sun and Rogers keeps it out of the net. But there's no way he could have collected it cleanly, and from the six Cichero drives the follow up to his right and into the twine for his fourth goal in two matches. The Bishops must strike quickly, but Norman North have had the advantage this half.

Just a reminder that we have to hustle over to Granby for the 6:30 match, and updates will be difficult to come by. We will catch you up on everything as soon as we are able to get back to The Cage ... Thanks!
