Nation's top youth soccer players to take the field at Manchester Meadows Rock Hill, S.C. (June 24, 2011)– The nation’s best and brightest young soccer players are coming to Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, SC, in the summer of 2012. The United States Youth Soccer Association (US Youth Soccer) has announced that the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships will be played at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, SC, July 24-29, 2012.
"We are excited that the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships will be held at Manchester Meadows in South Carolina. All of us look forward to working with South Carolina Youth Soccer and the facility staff," said John Sutter, president of US Youth Soccer. "This event is something players anticipate all year—the chance to earn their way to play against the best competition in their sport and win the national championship."
The tournament brings hundreds of players, coaches, managers and their families to the area, the impact of which will increase revenue opportunities for the local economy, including stores, hotels and restaurants.
South Carolina Youth Soccer Association will serve as the local organizing committee for the event, assisting the national association with event logistics and planning.
"Hosting the US Youth Soccer National Championships will be a wonderful opportunity for young players in the area to see some of the best teams in the country," said Bob Brantley, president of the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association. “This is such a unique gathering of talent and passion for the game, and we are thrilled to host these players and their families for this event.”
The national championships are the final chapter in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, a yearlong series of events in which more than 10,000 teams compete annually. US Youth Soccer Regional Champions and US Youth Soccer National League representative teams will take the pitch at Manchester Meadows for the chance to claim a national championship. Annually, these events provide the top stage to identify and scout the most coveted players in the nation for collegiate programs across the country.
Manchester Meadows was completed in 2006 and includes 8 lighted fields—two synthetic turf and six natural fields. The 70-acre complex also features pavilions, trails and playgrounds to create an atmosphere that has attracted attention from regional and national event coordinators. The park is situated next to Manchester Village, one of the premier shopping and dining destinations in Rock Hill.
Rock Hill sits just 20 miles south of Charlotte, NC, and offers a bevy of cultural, historic and entertainment options for local residents and for visitors.
