Can anyone tell me if there is any truth in Airport's varsity team literally "throwing" a ball in their own goal at the end of their match against Chapin??
I never knew a four seed in the region was such a prized possession!
Well Chapin and Airport were vying for 3rd and 4th spot in region...if Aiport won their first round game v Camden they would play Berkley or beach school in 2nd round instead of playing HILTON HEAD who is predicted to win state...that way have a chance to get to lower state instead of possibly losing in 2nd round...that is possibly why wanted 4th seed but only Airport can answer that question i guess....
Are you saying a referee actually awarded a goal (an own goal in this case) directly off a throw-in, or that Airport just tried to score an own goal direct of a throw-in?

you're kinda right. I was there watching my cousin whose a freshman and if I didn't see it would've never believed it. the coaches yelled for them to throw it in their own goal. it was ridiculous. our fans over there said they had told a player to score an own goal, but she wouldn't do it, then the gk kinda helped it in. something about not playing hilton head, but seems like bad sportsmanship to me and certainly not the lessons to teach young people.
