As a Westminster Schools of Augusta (WSA) fan, I'm getting excited about the upcoming Azalea Cup. Looks like we're in a bracket with Stratford and then either Fort Dorchester or Berkeley, depending on who wins and loses in the first round. Can anyone give a preview on any of these teams this year (pre-season rank, relative strength vs. previous years, impact players, etc.)?

Any tournament would be fun to attend! We're sitting home. I looked up the Massey Rankings from last year:

SC
#14 Bishop England
#17 Chapin
#26 Fort Dorchester
#27 Stratford
#53 Stall
#91 West Ashley
#114 Berkeley

GA
#94 Westminster

I agree - I know our guys are really excited about attending this tournament.

I'm not familiar with Massey Rankings or other ranking systems, but I would be surprized if this ranking was for us. It's probably for the larger Westminster School over in Atlanta. As a GISA school, we're prohibited by GHSA rules from playing public schools in Georgia - I don't think Massey would have enough comparative data to rank us against all Georgia schools. Westminster of Atlanta can actually play public schools because they joined the GHSA league - they're a really good program and I'm sure they have a strong ranking.

As for where to place us in the lineup of teams, its probably fair to compare us with a SCISA program in your state. Looking at this field of teams I think this will definately be a challenging (and fun) tournament for us.

I guess we do have a Massey ranking. Thanks for the info and the link to the sight. It's interesting to speculate how we stack up against non-GISA Georgia schools. Maybe Georgia will catch up to South Carolina at some point and get over it's aversion to inter-league competition between GISA and GHSA.
