Aiken Standard just posted that Lexington wins on pks. Lexington made 4 and South Aiken made 2. The 3rd and 4th seeds from region 5 playing in the lower-state championship.

Lexington scored first with a nice trap and side volley. South Aiken player dribbled down towards the box took a small touch left and blasted one into the back of the net. Stayed 1 - 1 for a good while. While Lexington was getting a few chances, they could never truly connect. South Aiken was having shots, but couldn't get that last touch. The Lexington keeper played a good game and his defense covered him many times. South Aiken had 2 throw in opportunities at the box at the end of the first half and during one half of the overtime when the ref blew the whistle before they could throw in. One of the last best chances SA had to score was during Golden Goal OT when a SA player came from the far right, dribbled near the box, and hit a P-Rod of a shot that went across the face of the goal and was wide by less than a few inches.

Lexington made 4 Penalty Shots
South Aiken made 1 Penalty Shot.
SA made the first PK then had 1 PK blocked and over kicked 2 if I remember correctly. South Aiken was the better team, but Lexington did everything they could to get the win. Overall, it was a great watch.

Was at the JL Mann/Nation Ford game and was really glad I made the trip. Great game, with Nation Ford scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes of the match including a goal in the opening minute. Both goals just came with balls over the top that Mann didn't deal with but both were finished well by #12 for Nation Ford. I was really impressed by him. Who is he? I was also impressed by their CB #3. Big strong kid who dealt with the constant pressure Mann put them under. Mann plays a very intense style of direct play into the forwards and had plenty of chances to score but man did Nation Ford's keeper really have a strong game. What a great result for Nation Ford and have a feeling they will go into the Irmo game with plenty of confidence.

May 11 @ Wren High School

Wren 5
Belton Honea-Path 1

Wren scored in the 2nd minute, and controlled the play for the majority of the day. Sets up Eastside @ Wren Tuesday night for the right to go to....Gilbert. Should be a great game Tuesday.

Congrats to BHP on an excellent season. Dealt Wren their only region loss earlier in the year. Proved that Region I-AAA plays big boy soccer.

They were really impressive. Those three were probably the difference makers against Mann.

Regarding "expectations," ... anyone who expects or assumes outcomes in H.S. sports is a fool. It's a coach's job to manage expectations among his players. At the H.S. level, only an extremely small percentage of coaches have that kind of ability. I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
