The award was created to allow NSCAA member coaches at the high school level to recognize an outstanding senior student-athlete in their program, with the intent of honoring exceptional contributions to the team while exemplifying the finest attributes of a high school student-athlete.

Selections are to be made based on the following criteria. The student-athlete must:

3.Represent the finest attributes of a team player
4.Consistently projects a positive attitude
5.Displays team leadership
6.Exemplifies the standards set forth in the NSCAA Player Code of Conduct and Ethics

The nominating coach MUST be a current NSCAA member. One player may be nominated in each respective season (boys and girls).
