The SC United Bantam want to give our sincere thanks to everyone that came out to watch pro soccer on Friday night against the USLPro Charlotte Eagles What a great night of soccer as you helped us set a record attendance for a Bantams match. Hopefully everyone got to experience the family environment we want to create for our home matches and see the high quality of play that PDL will provide. Our roster is built 100% with players from SC colleges, high schools or clubs. The Eagles won the match 2-1 in a very high paced, end to end match with the Bantams. The Bantams opened the scoring in the first half with a great one-time finish from the top of the box from Nico Rittmeyer. The Eagles equalized later and got another one before half-time to lead 2-1. The second half stayed scoreless with some tremendous play from goalkeeper Robert Beebe. The Bantams were pressing hard to even the match all the way to the finish. Ryan Hurst smacked the goal post twice and finished a great ball only to have that called back for offsides. A flurry of corners right before the final whistle could not even the score. The Bantams kick off their league schedule this Saturday, May 18th in Greenwood at Lander University at 7:30 against Virginia Beach. The next home game in Columbia will be on Saturday June 1st at USC Stone Stadium. Complete schedule is located on www.uslsoccer.com, www.palmettofc.com or www.southcarolinaunitedfc.com. The Bantams will also be bringing pro soccer back to Columbia on July 6th as they host the USL Pro defending champion Charleston Battery at USC Stone stadium. More details of that 4th of July match will follow, and we honor our soldiers for military appreciation night. Thanks for joining us Friday night for the Charlotte Eagles and thanks for a great atmosphere for Bantams soccer!
