COLUMBIA, S.C. South Carolina’s Mikkel Knudsen earned another postseason award on Monday, as Top Drawer Soccer named him to its NCAA Division I Men’s Best XI Freshman Second Team.

Knudsen led Conference USA in goals in league action to claim the Golden Boot from the Gamecocks’ home for a decade and also was named the C-USA Freshman of the Year.

The Allested-Vejli, Denmark, native posted 19 points and eight goals on the year, with those marks standing eighth and tied for seventh, respectively, in South Carolina history for a freshman. In addition to the two individual awards, Knudsen took a spot on the C-USA second team and All-Freshman Team. He also gained third-team NSCAA All-South accolades for his play.

The fifth Freshman All-American in recorded program history, he’s the first since Braeden Troyer made the 2011 College Soccer News third team. South Carolina closed 2014 with a 10-10 mark after winning its way into the 2014 C-USA Tournament Finals.

That tourney run saw the Gamecocks gain consecutive wins over ranked teams to reach the finals.
