Will someone wake up the folks at SCHSL and tell them to complete their AAAA brackets on the website?

I'll give it a shot. Fort Mill, Dohrman, Mann, Dutch Fork seem are safe bets. The TL Hanna and Wade Hampton could be closer than one would expect with a #5 going against a #1, I'm going with Mauldin over Nation Ford, Blythewood over Greenwood and Spring over Hillcrest.

This actually ended up being pretty close, with the exception of the Fort Mill vs Riverside game. Congratulations to all the winners.. Good luck tomorrow.

Will someone wake them up again and tell them to update the AAA brackets? Simplest things...

Lower State Round 2 Predictions:

Lexington: The season for the JI freshman scoring machine end tonight. I don't think JI has enough to win AT Lexington.

Summerville: The field at Summerville is long and narrow, giving the Green Wave an advantage.

Wando: Losing their best central midfielder Monday night to a leg injury will hurt as they progress. They should have enough to handle S. Aiken.

River Bluff: Fort D may have one of the best players in the state, but I don't think she will get enough help to defeat River Bluff.

My Two Cents!!

Games are just about ready to start. Good luck to all.

I think the teams that will advance are Dutch Fork, Dorman, Mann and Riverside. The Riverside v Blythewood game should be close, but I am giving it to Riverside because they are coming off a win against a region winner.

This is to Wando's benefit, essentially compacting a game to 28:45 minutes

Lexington was dominating the majority of play with Wando trying to come out on counters which were not very successful

Wando was well organized in the back but some of the speed of Lexington was causing them problems

Wando keeper made one nice save which extended the season because the normal rule for a game stopped in the second half would be called complete

So a short compact game should help Wando

Funny how everybody who has to go to Wando (south Aiken had to drive close to 3hrs?) and play cannot use that excuse

Let me try to start something for the fun of it.

A/AA is not fair because private/charter schools dominate.

JL Mann is good because they can take kids outside of their zone and their field is crap.

Wando only wins because of their size.

I'm sure there are more.

Riverside sucks and they play for hyslop. Our player of the year came from mauldin. Thanks. Our field sucks because every team wins and is used 24/7. Riverside field hard as a rock. So my suggestion is to recruit better and forfeit when you have away game at Mann. Or hire good trainor

Wando only wins because their coach has them all in club. I hate Wando. I wish they would build a second school. I can't believe the Charleston County School Board cares more about soccer wins than school size.

According to Eurosport Wando Girls have won 34 games in a row against South Carolina teams. They gave up 7 goals total in those games.
On the same Eurosport site Wando Girls are only ranked 4th in AAAA soccer this year. Might want to work on that voting process too while fixing the individual awards!

You guys sound like a bunch of crybabies. Maybe it is because Fort Mill lost in the first round.
Also, do you want to know why the best players come up and play for Andrew? It is because he knows a lot of college coaches and works hard at getting his players good scholarships. His players are spread all over the county, not like Wando and all at one school.
Can anybody tell me how many players are being seen at Wando and how many have good scholarships?
They are good players but are they being seen by colleges? Some of ya'll act like it is dumb luck that Andrew gets these kids. It is because they play better competition in club that play that Columbia United and Mount Pleasant.
Also, he is a great coach and colleges trust him to have the girls ready to play in the ACC, SEC, So. Con. It is not dumb luck.
One last thing, Mann does not recruit players. There are 2 girls that are magnet students and not zoned for JL Mann. They are not starters. Several years from now, it will be another school. Greenville Co. has so many high schools and the low country players that play club either are private or go to Wando.

Nope! It's more about demographics. The more wealthy areas have better soccer. The poorer areas have worse teams. If you don't have a good club system, you're doomed! Simple!

Andrew is the best Coach with the most ties to big schools. What other coach in SC is placing kids at the rate that he is?

whatever: Name me one. He actually cares about his kids and it takes money to train. Try sending your kid to private lessons or to cross fit. They will come out no better at soccer.
Name one. It may be a monopoly, but so is Duke power and Charter or Laurens Electric. Wake up and forget about your jealous personality. Can you do what he does? The answer is NO. There isn't a college coach in the state that cares what you think.

The Gatorade Player of the Year Award is about High School, not Club. Granted, the winners do all play Club, but I have to agree, it is odd so many Hyslop CESA girls have won it and not more Wando girls, a school that has dominated 4A for many years and yes, have sent many girls on to play in college.

No doubt the winners have all been deserving, but there have been many others equally deserving at Wando and other schools.

Seems like the CESA "hype" machine keeps the CESA players in the loop for GPOY.

Yes, the winners have all been deserving. Of course, there are other players also deserving. Sadly, all the deserving players don't win the GPOY...Such is Life

How successful have the college careers been of the previous winners that played for Andrew? That so called CESA hype machine doesn't do much good after they leave the club, so they have to produce. It probably won't take much research to see that they have...

I'm not much on the GPOTY. Too many good kids to single out just one. As far as CESA, the girls migrate to the club and play much better and older competition. Therefore they get seen more through the ECNL showcases. Just right now, he has helped over 14 girls get great scholarships to play in the ACC, SEC, and 5 at Furman. With those type of odds and if you want to play in college, why wouldn't you play for Andrew. He will go to the end of the earth for you regarding soccer if you are willing to go there too.

Gatorade player success: Devita was a 3 time winner. She was Southern Conference player of the year and leading scorer.
Drennan: All time assist leader at USC
McKaskell: didn't play high school but played for Cesa: College Freshman of the Year. Not just for the SEC but for all Div. 1
Jennie from JL Mann last year: just starting here career at Clemson.
Last years and this years boys both from Mann are at Clemson.

That looks like a lot of success to me.

Dale, nobody is ragging on CESA.

We all know CESA is a great club.

But, none of us are in love with Andrew as you seem to be.

You obviously don't know him like some do.

Glad your experience with him is grand, there are many who will not say the same about their experiences with him.

I am not in love with him. But I have watched him help more than he has hurt. I know him very well and better than you do.

What's wrong, did he not let your daughter play?
I know that he has to make decisions about players just like a business leader would have to make about his staff. I think that it would be a hard task to manage 3 or 4 thousand kids. It is not the kids that don't like him, it is the parents.

Andrew is a fine coach/ Lives, eats and breathes soccer. I m sure he has many contacts and does a great job promoting. But its his full time job so he better. We all pplayed for cesa and had a blast. Its just funny how we payed thousands of dollars and traveled the USA to play the best and be seen by many coaches so that we could play collegiate soccer in a two hundred mile radius of Greenville. There is more the enough competition in the tri-state area to get your soccer fix but thats not how its done.

It is a business just like everything else. But some girls are going more than 200 miles away to play D1 soccer.

Enough about all that. We all make our decisions about who to play for and he has done a lot for SC soccer. Almost all of his older girls are committed to Big Name schools.

Now is anybody going to the games today? I am packing my bags.

Wow, great that you are traveling such a distance that it requires you to overnight.

There are great restaurants in the Columbia Vista.

Enjoy, best of luck to your team.

If you treat people the way you are talking about Andrew, then I would have to say whatever happened to you, you probably deserved it. Yes, I do know him very well, and I could care less what he did to you or whether he has your respect or not.

I heard Andrew got a taste of his own medicine with the Spartanburg situation. I could not care less if I have his or your respect, as I certainly do not respect he or you.

Bomber: Sounds like he made your kid sit the bench. Maybe she got her talent from you. Or maybe your just stalking the boards. Either way, who cares what you think. You are loser. From what I've seen , Spartanburg, doesn't have a lot of talent anyway or no one to develop it.

Only Bomber knows. He is such a great soccer mind with so many contacts in the soccer world.

Dale - you need to ask Andrew about the talent at Spartanburg. You have no clue what we have here in Spartanburg.

I know you have Moe, but I don't see a lot of other girls from Spbg playing high level soccer.

So you know so much, tell me what I am missing. How many girls at Dorman are playing D1 soccer after high school? Don't give names, just how many.
Dorman didn't make it very far in the playoffs this year.

Dale, I think if you asked a lot of schools, making the 3rd round and taking a previously unbeaten team into OT with the "lack" of talent you say we have here in Spartanburg County is a pretty big accomplishment. Especially when it follows a season where the girls team was in the UpperState Finals. Not every high school player is going to go on and play college soccer. Some have in the past, many could have, but were more inclined to choose a school for educational reasons so they didn't become ignorant misinformed adults like you who like to stir things up on a forum behind a screen name.

By the way, I am not the girls coach, I am the boys coach. I work very closely with Coach Lorenz and will tell you that year in and year out no one works harder than he does to develop players. We may not have a squad of ECNL/Premier talent in Spartanburg, but we do the very best we can with what we have. I think Coach Lorenz epitomizes that.

Looks like you are getting called out for your "trashing" of Spartanburg.

So, get your facts straight before you insult a bunch of players and coaches who work just as hard and are just as dedicated as your team.

I wasn't trash talking Spbg until Bomber brought up "What happened in Spbg" with Andrew. Bomber you still have nothing to bring to the table. So you might as well tone it down, but you still haven't said what facts you want.
Coach Eskew. Almost every player coached by Andrew goes on to play college. That is most of their dreams if they are still playing at 18 years old. I agree that some go on for academic reasons. I don't know about you, but I think that Coach Lorenz does a good job. No one expected them to be in the finals last year.

So instead of starting something by saying there isn't any talent here, why don't you say that? Just sounds like someone trying to drum up something. But Lorenz is right. You don't know what goes on here because you aren't involved in it. Always easy to say things when you're on the outside looking in. Pretty obvious the talent pool in Spartanburg isn't what it is in Greenville. Anyone who knows anything about soccer knows that, but that's neither here nor there. Don't go attacking people and programs you know nothing about. You've proven your point. You don't like Andrew (or Bomber).

Dale, my comment regarding Spartanburg has to do with Club players not High School.

You don't need to backpeddle, you insulted the Spartanburg High School scene, you really owe them an apology.

I guess CESA does not accept anyone from Spartanburg County as they dont have talent as you indicate.

Bomber, You started this crap. I do like Andrew and respect what he does. He puts the girls in contact with the colleges that wants them. What do you do? You kept saying with what happened in Spbg. Seems like nobody knows but you.

Good luck to you DormanSoccer. I know you weren't starting crap only protecting your territory. When Dorman played our girls team, they were as nice as can be. Some even came to star and support the upper state. I will say one more thing. I know that Moe is committed, and I bet that Andrew helped in some way. She is coming to Cesa. If you followed the trail back. Bomber kept talking crap about Andrew and I stood up for him. That is how it all started. If I remember right, he did the same thing last year, but I kept my mouth shut.

I'm done, Good luck Dorman, see you next year.
