COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina rising senior midfielder Danny Deakin has been named to the 2016 Watch List for the Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced on Wednesday.

The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented annually to one male and one female, is the most prestigious individual award presented in intercollegiate soccer. The winners of the award are selected each January through voting by the members of the NSCAA and are honored at an annual banquet at the MAC, located in downtown St. Louis. Deakin is among 28 men’s players on this year’s watch list, which will be trimmed to 15 near the end of the regular season before three finalists are selected.

Deakin, who started all 21 matches last season, led South Carolina with 11 goals and 24 points and tallied the first Gamecock hat trick in 14 seasons. The Sheffield, England, native ranked second in Conference USA in goals and third in points while tallying three game-winning goals. He was named first-team All-C-USA and first-team NSCAA All-Southeast Region following his stellar junior campaign.

South Carolina begins its 2016 regular season, its 12th as a C-USA member, on August 26 against Clemson. Combined season tickets with the women's team are on sale now at GamecocksOnline.com/Tickets.
