The Clash of the Carolinas, the nation's only interstate all-star prep soccer event, will be held Saturday, June 30 at WakeMed Park's Koka Booth Stadium in Cary, N.C. The girls' match kicks off at 10 a.m., and the boys' contest follows at 12 noon. Admission is $10 and souvenir programs will be on sale for $5.

"The Clash" has been held every Summer since 2007 and is co-hosted by the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association and the South Caroling High School Soccer Coaches Association. The 12th annual event is sponsored by BRINE, BSN Sports, First Citizens Bank, and Lloyd's Soccer. The first nine contests were held at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island, S.C., and the last three outings have been held in the Raleigh community. Cardinal Gibbons High School will serve as the host site.

In the girls series, North Carolina leads South Carolina 8-1-2 while in the boys series the Tar Heels hold a 6-1-4 advantage.Last year's matches saw NC 4-0 winners in the girls game while the boys game ended in a 2-2 draw. South Carolina's only victories in the series came in 2008 for the girls and 2010 for the boys.

SC girls lost 1-3. The match overall was about even. SC could have easily won. Had I wanted to watch SC United lose, I would have watched them in the fall as well.... was about right for HS soccer.
