Folks:

To put it bluntly, I don't have time to police the message boards because of folks' personal agendas. If you have a beef with a particular club, director, or coach, please take that issue up with them directly.

I have been contacted now three times in three weeks about alleged nefarious actions of certain individuals and clubs.

I have deleted the entire thread in regards to the new Carolina Surf club in Charleston. Please do not start another in regards to simply bashing the club or the people involved.

Thank you. While I agree that personal beefs with specific clubs are not necessary on the forum, it is also important that factual information can be shared. I would hope that legitimate news that is discussed would not be shut down because said news might paint certain individuals or organizations in a negative light.

I am concerned that some lurkers might complain in order to suppress legitimate information or reasonably crafted opinions that paint their organization in a negative light.

I believe that if the information is truthful and factual, then it should be shared. Parents spend a lot of time and money in club soccer. Too many clubs are less than transparent and forthright in how they operate their budgets, collaborate with other clubs, and other decisions.

I concur that people should talk to their Directors personally. However, I can say that without question, I have learned more here.

My own experience is that these boards have been valuable in sharing information, some of which was more in line with truth
than some Directors I have spoken to.

I thank you for your time and commitment to soccer in SC and hope these forums can grow and thrive.

I couldn't agree with you more! We all understand that youth soccer is a business to these guys but somewhere in our parenting hearts we like to think they care a little about our children. When these "take overs" happen we know its every parent/child for themselves and we are often left in the dust with our soccer balls in hand. The only way to try and stay a head of their game is this forum sometimes because a parent or a very caring coach will give us an inside scoop on what is going on.

Well put. Just looked at the thread in question this morning and did not see anything outlandish or personal. Unless something was posted later like that, it seems odd to remove it now.

Spartina posted a link to a lawsuit currently being heard in federal court and people commented on those named in the suit.

That link contained publicly available information and I'm not sure what was "nefarious" about anything but the activities alleged in the suit.

Maybe if we had some more information about what was wrong with our posts, we could avoid this happening again.

I’d say this is fairly clear & easy advice for all of us to follow SCSoccerfan. Take your grievances directly to those with whom you are upset.

Look at the rich history of this board, I’d like to think we would all prefer it to go back to a place to share information and discuss topics without all the attacks.

We almost made it 12 hours from Kevin's polite request to the first attack.

Sorry Kevin.

Seems an odd world where a person can demean kids and make comments about male genitalia and then accuse others of not behaving well.

Shamrock Rovers: Just saw a hot thread was nuked. Second time in the last few weeks. Not sure why in this case, but perhaps a statement is in order.

Kyle Heise: No statement needed. This is a busy time of year for us and when posts become personal attacks or slander then we will simply delete the entire thread. Facts are fine and heated debate is tolerated. However, innuendo and speculation is not going to be spewed on this Message Board.

Thank you. Not sure what the offending speculation or innuendo was. Just glad that posting links and discussing the lawsuit was acceptable. I understand why libel, with evidence of actual malice, won’t be tolerated. Less that threshold, I assume we can discuss the information we have gleaned and posit our opinions.

It would be unfortunate and chilling if we could not come here and openly discuss the maneuvering of local clubs that impact our children without worrying that some clubs/people would be unhappy or concerned with the perception and cause open dialogue to be shut down by submitting a complaint. In fact, since you saw fit to share my message, I would hope you share theirs as well.

The lack of transparency and sometimes honesty by some clubs makes places like this so valuable. Clubs regularly promote positives and hide negatives. That is normal. Fortunately, this has been a place where pros/cons and different perspectives on clubs has been shared. I would hate to think that could be lost.

For every person that posts in the club site, there are many more lurkers, trying to learn something because club directors are not always accessible and forthright with them. Even those posters that may disagree with each other on most things would likely concur that the opportunity to freely discuss facts and information is of great value. Again, thank you for providing that environment.

Do us all a favor, return us to the normalcy to this board please, where actual topics could be discussed.

I'm just asking questions you don't want to answer. Seems odd for you to get so emotional about it instead of answering the questions.

I'm sure these same questions will be presented to local and regional league leaders and are possibly part of the ongoing DOJ investigation. Please prepare answers. The parents and kids deserve them as well.

You aren’t asking questions, you are making accusations that are unfounded.

You suggest the named individual in your post has committed a crime. However has yet to be charged or even named as a suspect. The Boston Globe article on this matter list coconspirators being targeted, the individual you name is not included.

Furthermore you suggest that former employees who worked under the named individual are guilty by association of the named individual, who as previous stated has not been charged with a crime nor is listed as a coconspirator.

The only thing your post is shedding light on is your twisted obsession with all things Surf.

Actually I'm opining on the reason why he may have quietly been dismissed by SC Surf.

Then I opined on whether or not letting him go would remove his influence and possible reasons why.

More to come.

What makes you think he was let go?

Assuming something doesn’t make it a fact.

Some suggested reading for you:

https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/social-media-online-defamation.html

“The bottom line on this type of situation: If you are blogging or writing on your Facebook page, or submitting comments on someone else’s blog or Facebook page, make sure that you have all of your facts absolutely straight before posting your statement to the internet. Once you have clicked “send,” you can’t take it back.
Or, alternatively, if it is a close call, why say it at all? To use our example, why do you need to write on someone else’s Facebook page about Mary Johnson being fired? Unless you’re the one who fired her, you don’t know all the facts. In submitting posts or comments online or on social media, it is a good idea to exercise the utmost caution and avoid making any "gray area" statements that could be construed as defamation.”
